Werewolf Movies

From cult classics and horror to romance to cheesy costumes, werewolves movies have a variety for everyone. Pick your preferred genre and this niche will probably have what you’re looking for. Here are some werewolf movies I enjoyed and to get you started on your werewolf rabbit hole!

Blood & Chocolate

Based on a book, this movie is about a clan of werewolves who live in a small Romania town. Vivian is our main heroine who falls in love with a human stirring up the traditions of old. Finding out the hard way, Aiden learns the girl he is falling for is a werewolf and her family doesn’t bode well with strangers. Trying to fight through the traditions, Vivian and Aiden, fight back and make it out alive.

Skinwalkers

The werewolves are coming back to town to take a boy who has the power to change the curse and turn the wolves human again. Their goal: to kill him. They want the animal to take over. However, the community members will not stand for it and want to become human again. Fighting for her and her sons life, a mother goes to crazy lengths after learning about this curse to save her son.

Underworld Series

Selene is a vampire death dealer, tasked to kill Lycans. For hundreds of years she’s killed them and now they are fighting back with better technology. Selene, delves more into their inner workings and finds they are searching for a man and she wants to know why he is so valuable and their true plans for the future. Could this man be the key to the vampire’s destruction or their salvation?

Van Helsing

One of my favorites on this list. I watch it every year for the action, the storyline, the relationships, the romance, the vampire brides (I wanted to be one so bad because of how badass they were), and the comedy. Van helsing is the man who kills the supernatural causing trouble for normal people. Now he is tasked with something very formidable. With his friar sidekick, he travels to a country and finds out their secrets and who he must destroy.

Red Riding Hood

From the classic tale of Little Red Riding Hood, this show brings us a new twist on the wolf. Torn between her love for Peter and her parents wishes to marry a wealthy man, Henry, she must make a choice. She chooses to run away with Peter, but as her sister is killed by a werewolf, plans change and the village in which they live, become more aware of the dangers in the forest.

Twilight Series

A cult classic now from the acting to the songs to the blue tint, this series a long with the books started a whole phenomenon. Mostly a vampire series, werewolves play a pretty major role to keep the vampires in check and have many side quests within the novel that highlight their lore and relationships. Many were team Jacob, which one were you? I was team Edward. Now as an adult I’m team get the hell out of there!

Teen Wolf

The original to the series most of us have probably seen, starring Marty Mcfly from Back to the Future, we enter high school with a classic nerd as our protagonist. Scott Howard, our protagonist, learns from his father that a werewolf gene runs in the family and Scott decides that he will take advantage of this family trait. Now he is the talk of the school with his new found abilities. Will it last or will something happen to him due to these new found powers?

Cursed

A gothic style movie from the early 2000's, it has our gothic queen Christina Ricci and Jesse Eisenberg as her brother. Coming across an accident, the two siblings witness a ferocious event where the driver is getting eaten by a werewolf. the two siblings get caught up the werewolves attack and barely escape with their lives. Leaving they discover they did not leave empty-handed. As the siblings try to live life again they seem to realize it won't be that easy.

An American Werewolf in London

Two American tourists in London are attacked by a werewolf. Only one escaping with their lives, is greeted by the ghost of his friend who tells him he is now a werewolf. To break the cycle, he must commit suicide. The tourist, is dreaming of others who want to be lifted from the curse the werewolf has put them under. The townspeople don't acknowledge the werewolf, so our main character must make a choice.
