By the waters edge, a young woman is seen sitting on the sandy shores. The moon light shinning down on her, and the waves lightly tapping onto her feet. As she sat there, her mind races in circles of the day that had past on by. Without paying any attention to her surroundings, she leans her body backwards to sprawl herself out in the sand. Though she felt her head bump against someone. She whispers a 'sorry' as she bends her body forward and looks towards where she thought the person would be, just to notice that no one was there. Getting onto her knees, she turns her body around, her eyes skimming around to see if she notices anything out of place.
Seeing as no one was around. Chills began to run up and down her spin, knowing that something was extremely off. Getting up, she puts on her sandals, not bothering to dust or dry off her feet, and she hustled to the safety of her vehicle in the parking lot. Her mind rushing frantically, trying to understand what had happened. Any minute she expected something to happen to her. As her hand touched the door handle, and the door opened with ease. Her body easily slid into the car, she breathed a deep sigh of relief, feeling safe.
After starting the car up, she looks up, a smile on her face. Just for it to disappear. What she saw was a pitch black, shadowed being, standing over where she was sitting on the shoreline. Her heart sinking to the pit of her stomach, and her body seemed to be frozen. It began to turn around slowly, and she felt like she has been spotted. The feeling of the being staring at her from the abyss as to where its eyes should have been. Its heading twitching every few seconds. Her body began to tremble to the spectacle, and her throat began to tighten.
Tap tap
Something was hitting the driver side window, making her jolt. Slowly, she turned her head to see who, or what, hit her window. Looking out, she noticed a man in uniform with a flashlight, signaling her to roll her window down. In which she obliged by partially rolling it down to hear what he has to say.
“Are you okay, Miss? You've been sitting in your car for the past 30 minutes, staring at the water.” He asked, eyeing her.
“I, um... Do you see that?” She asked pointing towards the water.
Raising an eyebrow, he looked out to where she was pointing. Seeing nothing, he looked back at her, questioningly.
“Have you been drinking, or dare I say, have you taken any form of drugs ma'am.” He asked with a slight irritation in his voice.
Looking at him, taken back by what he had asked her. Then her brows furrowed as she shook her head. “No officer, I have not taken anything.”
Giving her a look over and flashing his light into the back seat. He motioned her to get out of the vehicle. Staring at the officer, her face began to flush red with frustration, knowing that the man was suspicious of something that she didn't even do. She began unbuckling herself, and looked up again, to see the being moving closer to the parking lot, then a few more of whatever it was, began to slowly crawl out of the water's depths. Her body trembling and her adrenaline kicked in.
Rather than getting out of the vehicle, she put her car into reverse, and stepped on the gas. The officer tried to grab onto the door's handle, but it slipped through his fingers. He fumbled with the walkie talkie, to try and call it in. Just to feel something grabbing onto his ankle. Looking down, he saw something that seemed to be staring at him. The being was completely blacked out, couldn't tell where any eyes should be, or even a nose. Then it gave a toothy grin to the man. Blade like teeth being exposed, and black ooze leaking through. The officer was about to grab for his gun, as it bit down onto the his leg. Then another one climbed him, chomping down onto the man's neck. A gurgle scream filling the air.
The woman began to scream as she watched, her hands fumbling until she manages to put her vehicle into drive. Tires screeching out of the parking lot, tears pooling out of her eyes, scared and confused as to what she had seen. Speeding down the road, a child walked out into the street in front of her. Taking a sharp turn, barely missing the child. For a split second, she realized the child was one of them.
Crash
The car rammed itself into a tree. Glass impaling her body, and her vision began to become blurry. Her last sight was the creature she mistakenly saved slinking itself towards her. The same toothy grin and the deep abyss staring at her. Becoming limp, she began to feel her body being dragged. Then the cooling of her body from what seemed to be water. Then the suffocation, and eventually the abyss that she kept on feeling from the creatures. Yet, it was far calmer than what she would have imagined.
