This story is about a young southern woman from North Carolina named Serene McDaniels, who just moved to the big city after her grandmother past. With no other living relatives, she began her quest in finding her place in this big melting pot not exactly sure of what she could possibly discover.While sitting in her 1 bedroom studio apartment, she overlook mountains of newspapers and flyers looking for decent employment. Frustration and boredom then takes over, and she goes on social media and then discover an ad become a beauty brand ambassador. Her face beams as she excitedly clicks on the link and applied for the position.

Serene became obsessed with the social media world. The idea of one day becoming this accomplished Instagram influencer and a Youtube star gave her an extreme edge. Her day to day became filled with requests in her DMs and the demands to complete deadlines started to pile. Although she became overwhelmed, she was grateful. Her YouTube channel was a huge hit. It generated 100,000 subscribers in a 3 month period and her following on Instagram had increased to 30,000 followers. So far everything is going well and Serene is finally found her place.

One Sunday there was a bang at her door. She goes to look to see who it was because she wasn’t expecting any visitors. She then opens the door and finds a package with no shipping or return label. It was odd because she wasn’t expecting any packages from her fans or the brands that she collaborate with. She picks it up and bring it in her room and placed it on her nightstand. The plan was to call every company that she works with and see if they are missing a package that could potentially be lost, but she as time passed she never gotten the opportunity to reach out.

Every night there was a horrible storm, and Serene found it hard to sleep between the nightmares and the thunder. Until one night she decides to open the package that sat on her nightstand for 2 weeks. As careful as possible, she slowly cuts the box with a sharp box cutter. Then as soon as she opens the box there was a thick black leather book titled, Untitled, on the front. Reluctantly, she begins to pick the book up and feel the exterior and admire the golden pages inside. When she opened the book to the front page her eyes widened and a chill went through her body. On the first page, was a dedication to Serene McDaniels circa. 1890.

After discovering the mysterious book that arrived weeks ago, Serene then goes on an expedition to find out the origin of it and where it came from. As she go through each phase of her journey she discovers secrets about her ancestry, things her grandmother never dared to share.
