“I think Ian really appreciates that we’re coming” Joey said. Mexx replied: ”yes, he does. It has been one year now since his sisters disappeared.” Joey and Mexx were walking to the cable car that would take them to the ski lodge. “We’re here. You got a key, right?” said Joey. Mexx brought the keys out of his pocket and opened the door. They got in to the cable car.

“I still feel weird going back to this place” said Joey. “Me too, but I think it will be fun to see everyone again” MExx replied. A few minutes later they arrived at the top of the mountain, near the ski lodge. Mexx and Joey stepped out of the cable car and started their trip to the lodge. “What time is it?” asked Joey. Mexx looked at his phone and said it was 9:41 pm. A minute later they saw the ski lodge appear. They saw the board that said with huge letters: ‘Morning Wood.’ That’s how Ian, the owner of the lodge, liked to call the lodge. Mexx rang the bell. A second later Sean opened the door and smiled. He said “Good to see you again, come in now, you guys must be dying from the cold.”

Mexx and Joey entered the lodge. They took off their jackets and walked over to the main room. Mexx said: “long time no see you all” Ian, Tom, Julia and Kim turned their head. They all greeted Mexx. Mexx walked to Julia and asked her how she was doing. She said she was fine. “What about sad Ian, did he recover from his loss?” asked Mexx. Julia said: “he got over his sisters, but I can see he changed.” “I think he’s very glad to see us again” said Mexx.

“Julie, did you hear that too?” whispered Ashley. Julie didn’t response. For a second it was quiet, but then something jumped out of the woods. “Run!” yelled Ashley. Julie and Ashley started running as fast as they could. The creature started chasing them. It was a very thin creature, it looked like a human who didn’t eat for a year. Julie and Ashley kept running, until they ran up to a dead end. It was a ten meters high cliff they were standing on. The creature jumped out of a tree and approached them slowly. Julie started walking backwards slowly while she was holding Ashley’s hand, but then she tripped and they fell down the cliff. The last thing they saw before they touched the ground, was a huge sea of fire above them.

“Did police found anything yet?” asked Tom “No, their disappearance is still a mystery” said Kim. Ian said lovebirds Tom and Kim had to go to another lodge, because Ski lodge ‘Morning Wood’ was too small for seven people. “I hope they’re in a good place now” said Tom. “Me too, although I must admit, I didn’t really liked Julie, but I never wanted her to die” replied Kim. “Maybe they’re still alive but why didn’t you like Julie?” asked Tom. “That tattoo of her own name on her left arm, I always found it kind of selfish” said Kim. “We’re here” said Tom. Tom opened the door and turned on the light. “Shit, the lights don’t work, I’ll light up a few candles” said Tom. Kim walked into the lodge and closed the door. Tom walked to the bedroom to get some matches. While Tom was looking for the matches, he heard a loud sound of breaking glass in the sitting room. “Kim, was that you?” asked Tom. Tom waited for a few seconds, but Kim didn’t reply. “Kim?” stuttered Tom. Tom walked slowly to the sitting room. There was a huge gap in the door, and Kim was gone. Tom ran out of the lodge. In the snow he could see the trace easy, it looked like Kim was being dragged away. Tom followed the trace as fast as he could. It led him to an abandoned mine entrance. He yelled Kim’s name, and he heard Kim yell back, far down the mine. Tom walked down a stair and followed the mine. There was no light inside the mine, so it was very dark. Tom heard Kim cry, and he started running again. The mine led him to an old elevator.

“No power, no light, no hot water, what happened to this place?” said Sean to himself silently. Mexx heard it and replied: “I tell you, since last year this place is damned.”

“Who is coming with me to the basement, to fix the power and gas?” asked Sean. Mexx and Julia volunteered. Mexx, Julia and Sean walked down to the basement and walked over to the boiler. There was a huge rip in the boiler. “How did this happen?” asked Sean bewildered. “Look at this” said Julia. She was staring to the place where the meter cupboard used to be. “Why would someone do this?” asked Sean. “And who did it? We are the only people with access to this place” said Julia.

“Anyone, open this door” shouted Tom. “Please.” Ian unlocked the door and opened. “Hey man, why are you here?” asked Ian. “It’s about Kim, she’s dead” cried Tom. “What? What happened?” asked Ian. “I don’t..” said Tom. He held his breath for a second and said “Something dragged her out of the lodge, and.. and… I followed the trace and it led me to the mines. And inside an elevator that’s out of use, I found her head ripped off her body” said Tom. “Holy Moses” said Ian. “Who is that behind you?” asked Ian. Tom turned around and looked at the man that walked down the path. The man was wearing a large jacket, and he carried a big bag pack. “Who are you?” yelled Ian “Strangers are not allowed on this mountain.” said Tom. “This isn’t your mountain, kid.” said the stranger calmly. “It belongs to the Chandocris.” “The Chandocris?” asked Tom. “I’ll explain later, get inside first and lock the doors and windows” said the stranger. Tom, Ian and the stranger walked inside the house and locked everything. Mexx, Julia and Sean walked back to the main room. “Who is this guy?” asked Julia. “I’m your only chance tonight, kid” said the stranger. “What do you mean?” asked Julia. “Many years ago, mineworkers got trapped down this mine. 12 mineworkers, with no food, no light and no exit. And then, the hunger came, and woke the curse. The mineworkers became cannibals. What turned them into a Chandocris. My father hunted the Chandocris. He killed them all, except one. Die Friesayr der Riese, as how my father called him. I hunted the Friesayr for many years but I never found him. Until one year ago I finally tracked him down. But I wasn’t alone that evening. While I was following the Friesayr, the Friesayer was following something else. I couldn’t save your sisters. But I was able to kill the Friesayr that night. I killed it with fire.” said the stranger.

It was silent for a minute. Until Ian asked “But if the last one was dead, who killed Kim?” “Your sisters fell down a cliff into a cave. But one of them survived and ate her own sister” replied the stranger. “The Chandocris destroyed the cable cars, so we need to get the radio tower. One of you comes with me, the rest stays here” said the stranger. “I’ll come with you” said Ian. “How long do we have to stay here?” asked Tom. “Until sunrise” said the stranger.

The stranger said “we need to hurry kid”. Ian walked to the door and locked it. The stranger gave Ian a gun and said “This could save your life.” Ian didn’t reply. They walked outside. “What’s your name?” asked Ian. “No time for conversations now, kid” replied the stranger. They said nothing to each other for a few minutes until the stranger said: “stop, they’re here.” The stranger took a kind of tube out of his backpack. “What is that?” asked Ian. “This is a flamethrower kid” replied the stranger. Nothing happened for a second. Then a Chandocris jumped out of the woods and ripped off the strangers head. Ian tried to shoot at the Chandocris, but he felt to weak to pull the trigger. The Chandocris jumped to Ian and knocked him to the floor. The Chandocris grabbed Ian by his leg and started dragging him. The last thing Ian saw before he closed his eyes was the text on the Chandocris’ left arm, saying ‘Julie’.
