Trick 'r Treat - A Movie Review
'Trick ‘r Treat' is a horror movie that we don’t see replicated enough with today's thrillers.

It’s Halloween! The one night a year when we pretend to be something scary.
Ringing the doorbell in 2007, Trick ‘r Treat sets around five interwoven stories taking place on Halloween night. Whether they loathe this night or worship the night, a dark supernatural trick ‘r treater plagues the town.
Trick ‘r Treat is a horror movie that we don’t see replicated enough with today’s thrillers. This is a film to watch on Halloween night. I had a fun time seeing a re-release of Trick ‘r Treat in theaters. Never mess with anybody because you just may regret it.
My favorite part about Trick ‘r Treat, and this is something that more films should do, is that it incorporates a variety of subplots. I prefer to follow a set of stories and not just one. It makes sense because, on Halloween, several stories are going on. Sometimes the characters appeared in one another's stories.
Each story is different. Trick ‘r Treat has several twists and turns. They all got a fair duration. I was laughing each time Billy interrupted his dad from digging up corpses.
You may recognize some of the actors who appear in Trick ‘r Treat. Or they became famous after appearing in the film. Playing the iconic horror character, Quinn Lord is forever Sam. There were only a few people in the theater, but I will always remember this wave of excitement whenever he appeared.
Anna Paquin was spectacular in her story. The first time I ever watched the film, I was so surprised by the revelation of their characters. Never mess with anybody.
Speaking of which, my favorite storyline was Rhonda’s (Samm Todd). During a time when learning disabilities were still undergoing caution in the media, nobody should ever make fun of people’s differences.
Last but not least, Mr. Kreeg (Brian Cox) undergoes the most harrowing night out of anyone. Cox thought up most ideas for his character, specifically his physical appearance and a sound that was added post-production. Just as I said, don’t do anything you may regret and it will come back to haunt you.
Trick ‘r Treat is one violent film. It is not appropriate for all ages. It includes suggestive dialogue, bloody violence, and terror. In contrast to most horror films, all death sequences occur off-camera. It’s more of a nightmare thinking about the way they died over witnessing it.
Since Trick ‘r Treat takes place on Halloween night, all characters wear the best costumes. Filmmakers conquered the mood. Decorating all the sets with pumpkins, decorations, and candy wrappers, it’s Halloween night all right.
Michael Dougherty made a Halloween film that’s packed with entertainment. Dougherty won the award for Best Director at the 2009 Fright Meter. According to behind-the-scenes, Trick ‘r Treat has 18 different drafts.
Makeup effects are a standout. I won’t spoil it, but for one transformation scene, practical effects were used. According to Dougherty, and I can agree, he went for practical because CG looked fake. The ending results are fantastic.
What is your definition of Halloween? Some only like it for one reason that is different from someone else. Whatever the case, respect that person. Trick ‘r Treat is an amusing story. This film deserves to be talked about more. I’m surprised it isn’t.
Recently, I just heard that a sequel is in the works. I cannot wait to see it. There are more stories to tell. If you’re looking for a scary movie to watch on your Halloween night, take a look at Trick ‘r Treat. You won’t be disappointed. Happy Halloween!
