Being in a haunted locations can be an exciting experience for paranormal enthusiasts and daredevils. However you should note that some locations are better to be undisturbed as a result of their dangerous conditions, dark histories and unsettling legends. Below are 10 haunted locations around the globe that are best unavoidable and include some glimpses into their eerie origins.

1- Proveglia island, Italy is located close to the city of Venice and has quite the history ensured to give you goosebumps. In the years of the bubonic plague, this island existed as a quarantine location for those that were infected and later became an institution rumoured to conduct experiments on its patients. Despite being abandoned and illegal to venture without permission people claim to hear the voices and see the ghosts that were once here.

2- Leap castle, Ireland is rumoured to be one of the most haunted castles and harbours a grim history. Multiple murders took place here- one of which being a priest during a mass. The several spirits that are trapped here have visitors feeling a sense of dread whenever they are present.

3- Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum, USA is a former psychiatric institution famous for overcrowding and neglecting its patients. Lots of people perished within this building and in modern times this new place is notorious for being one of the most haunted places in the US with rumours of apparitions showing themselves and unexplained noises.

4- Akershus Festning, Norway is a fortress located in Oslo that has served as a military base, prison and others. A demon dog is rumoured to roam its halls by the name of Malcaniseb and if you see this dog you’re rumoured to perish within 3 months…

5- Stull cemetery, USA is often known as the seven gates to hell with urban legends implying that satan himself appears during the equinox of spring and Halloween and while only small in size, its dark history deters people from entering (alive)

6- Sina Hotel, India is also known as the ghost hotel that was left incomplete when its construction stopped in the 1990s and never continued. It’s rumoured the construction ended due to the owner being brutally murdered and it is this that attracts ghost hunters from around the globe.

7- Igorchem Bandh, India is a road rumoured to be home to many malevolent spirits with local legend stating that possessions are more likely during the hours of 2-3pm with people exhibiting erratic and abnormal behaviour as well as physical changes.

8- Corvin Castle, Romania is seen as being related to Vlad the Impaler (the inspiration for Dracula). It has a vast and dark history that including executions and imprisonments with many people claiming to see Vlad and other entities roaming its halls.

9- Lawang Sewu, Indonesia was once a Dutch railway office that soon turned into a place of horror when it was occupied by the Japanese in World War 2 with many tortures and executions occurring here. In modern day it is regarded as one of the most haunted buildings with eerie sounds and apparitions being found within its structure.

10- The Broomway, UK is a tortuous footpath that leads to Foulness Island with it harbouring rapid tides, poor visibility and quicksand with more than 100 people losing their lives with the island itself being a restricted military base… what’s hidden in the island? And why have so many people died trying to get there?

While the mystery of these locations may draw you in with its paranormal origins and glimpses into history they all harbour their own individual risks. This is due to eerie legends, dangerous conditions and dark histories it is best not to venture into these locations especially if you’re faint of heart. Ensure you have the correct permissions, respect local law and take all precautions before you trek into these mystery riddled structures.
