The Forbidden Door: A Rule Broken, A Nightmare Unleashed

Author: Dream Books Sanjeevi
"Too much curiosity is like a fire; the person who stokes that fire too much ends up getting burnt."
“Abarth was right: perhaps it is better a locked door can keep secrets, but it also keeps the danger away.”
"It is a proverb to say that when the wind blows, people should stay at home. Fools seek the storm."
“Even if you seek knowledge, do not wake; a serpent concealed in the grass.”
"The eyes that seek justice must be willing to live in the shadows."
“It might be a general law actually that any wrong step forward can lead a man straight into the abysm.”
Headmaster Kandasamy seemed to be extremely furious. spoke again, his voice reverberating in the dimly lit academic hall. For generations, the rule had been in operation, and nobody had considered it possible to break it. The door at the end of the hall was a thing of legend: it was the height of the hall but old and made of thick oak and barred from the inside with chains that had rusted black. The warning was always clear: “Don’t open the door.”
The teacher of the class, Loganathan was standing beside the headmaster and he was looking at the door. "What’s behind it?" He said this almost in a whisper, though he seemed otherwise almost unable to contain his curiosity. Sports Coach Krishnan stood alongside the students and his nervous signs included clenching of fists.
>“Headmaster is it accurate what people state?” demanded the student Sanjeevi his voice was shaking like a little child’s.
Having said this Kandasamy could not reply anything further as a momentary shuffle took place. A group of students was pale and started moving towards the door—the opposite direction. Anger filled the headmaster’s face and he paled when the chains clanged, cold wind swept through the room.
"Sanjeevi, stop them!" Loganathan shouted, but could not warn the team any further. The door groaned audibly and when it opened nothing was seen but darkness, a darkness which seemed to seethe with evil.
A low whisper came from the darkness, and the students went inside one by one as they disappeared. The door banged closed, the chains came round them again.
Lids went down on all the drinks and an uncanny silence enveloped the hall.
The rule was simple. They hadn't listened.
"The wrongdoer will drink water"
