They promised us riches, fame and glory...they said that our ghosts would be put to rest, no more would we be haunted by our sense of failure, lack of self-worth, underachievement and self-loathing.
All of this would be obliterated if we were only brave enough to open the forbidden door. The door to the Theatre of fulfilled Dreams, where all of our wishes would...well! No one actually knows.
I had nothing to lose. I had lost it all on a toss of the dice, a drumroll of a distant drummer calling from the abyss. I had tried, just as hard as everyone else, yet I watched from the shadows as accolade after accolade was showered upon them. Leaving me nothing but crumbs and scraps from their table.
I no longer cared what was behind that door. What was one more roll of the hand of fate.
I turned the lock. Opened the door and stepped in.
As the door to Hell slammed shut behind me..."Hell", I laughed maniacally. How is this any different from the other side. At least here I know what to expect.
The Theatre of dreams, of so called life...PLAYS ON!

The Disappointment Room
"There was only one rule: don’t open the door.” I always wondered why Papa kept the little door locked. Mama would never look me in the eye whenever I asked her why. She sure cried a lot. I kind of remember back when she used to laugh when I was much younger. I think they were happy then, back when I was young and I was happy too. Then she let me touch her tummy, it tickled my hand and I laughed. It took a long time, but one day they went to the hospital and brought home a little pink wiggly thing, pretty as a picture it was. After that, they forgot to make me happy, I watched them giggle and coo as everybody admired the pink pretty thing. One day it stopped moving. It was all bloody and broken, as if someone had pulled the strings of a marionette and the pieces had fallen...one...by...one. Arms, legs, head...unrecognizable......................They hid me away, I guess they didn't want me to see the pink thing. But...why? It was such pretty shade of crimson red.

Love this idea! It sure would be nice to step through to the other side of our own theatre of dream yet sometimes our hopes are ego based and thus send us right back to hell anyhow!! 🫠😊
