I once had a normal life. I had a heartbeat, color in my skin, a soul. As I sat at my mirror wishing to look at the once reflection I had, thinking maybe this isn't for me, I brushed my hair as my servants got my dress ready for me. "What if no one likes me?" I asked one of the lady's looking for my corset. "You'll do fine. You were destined to be great, and great you shall be my lady." The lady was paler then me, she had been on this earth longer then me by a thousand years. She walked over to me and with her wrinkly, cold, old hands she grabbed the brush from me and began to brush my what use to be bright strawberry red that is now coal black hair. She began to speak, "My lady, what is bothering you truly?" "I don't know. I wasn't born a vampire, so I don't understand why I must rule the whole undead." The old lady put the brush down and began fixing my hair up and looked at me and said, "You were chosen because you were destined to lead us to survive. The king predicted it before you took your first breath dear. How did you become a vampire anyhow? The king never spoke of how you were turned." I put my head down and began to sadden. "It's a sad and horrible story." the woman stopped playing with my hair and kneeled down next to my and lifted my head by my chin. "Oh you poor thing. Please tell me, maybe I can help you through this feeling before you have to go out to the throne room." I looked at her like I felt comfort and wiped my tears. I took a deep breath and began, "Okay I will tell you, but don't say I didn't worn you. It's not a happy story."

*Imagine being in the day April 10th, 1912*

I was 28 years old. I was so excited to go to the new world we all know as the United States of America. I was an heir to a great fortune. I was going to America to try to find a new life outside of my fathers money, I wanted to write for the New York Times, now that over in America some women were able to work for a living. I wanted to find happiness and love. Instead by the time I got there I found death two days after arriving and my soul taken. My name at the time was Marie Adams. I was an only child, and very distant with my mother. When I was a little girl my father, William Adams was my world. I wanted to always be around him. He would teach me about money and family matters and what have you. Until I got older and learned my father didn't want me around because he loved me. No, he wanted me around because I needed to learn the business for when I turn of age and get married, my husband could learn the business and have it passed down.

You see my father was a very wealthy man. He invented photoelectric cells (solar panels). When I was born he was unhappy because I was a girl. Back then, women working was frown upon. especially in a business like that. He later on figured I'll bare a child that would be a boy and the business would be passed down. My father tried to have me arrange to be married tons of times, but never quite worked out. I at times would turn it into a game. I called it How Should I. When I would learn of my father having a male visit that he thought would be worthy of marrying me, I would set traps the night before. Most men would run off and never look back, others would accuse my father of pulling their leg (meaning pranking them). As I turned 26 I dreamed of going to America and starting a new life. So on my 28th birthday I went into my fathers study where he and my mother sat and announced that I was leaving and going to America. My mother, Jenny did not respond, she didn't care for me because I was not a man. She simply looked at me and rolled her eyes. My father forbid me from leaving and I told him he didn't control me and I'm going to make a life of myself. I stormed out of the house with my bags and sat on the curb for 4 hours.

I found out that a ship was going to America that day. I ran to the docks and got the very last ticket and got on board. Little did I know that, that boat was to sink April 15th, 1912. Yup, I came to America on the Titanic. I will not go into details about the trip seeing how it's very over played. everyone living and undead have heard how the Titanic went down. I'm going to skip over and get to when I landed in Ellis Island.

When I arrived on American soil, I was looked at by onsite doctors and checked into the new world. They changed my name to Ruby Devine. I thought wow, a new life and new name. can't get any better then this. I was right. It just got worst the moment I got myself a home in this beautiful land.
