The Shadows Beyond the Door

A Night When the Darkness Came Alive

The Shadows Beyond the Door

It was a stormy night when Zara moved into her late aunt’s old mansion at the edge of the woods. The place had been abandoned for years, standing isolated and silent, like a specter from another time. Zara wasn't superstitious, but the locals had warned her about the "shadows beyond the door." Brushing off their fears as small-town superstition, she was ready for a fresh start, unaware of the horrors lurking within those old walls. As she unpacked, strange noises echoed from the mansion's upper floor.

She tried to ignore them, convincing herself it was the wind rattling the windows or old pipes shifting. But as midnight approached, the house seemed to come alive. Shadows flickered just out of sight, whispering her name and moving closer each time she blinked. Her pulse quickened when she heard slow, deliberate footsteps coming down the hallway toward her door.

Desperate, she locked herself in the bedroom, only for the door to slowly creak open. And there, standing just beyond, was a figure from her darkest dreams—its face pale and twisted, its eyes void, pulling her into the endless night.

Just as Zara was about to give in to the dark presence, she found a small pendant her aunt had left behind. As she held it, a protective warmth enveloped her, casting away the shadows for a brief moment. In a burst of courage, Zara fled the mansion, leaving the horror behind, vowing never to return. The mansion, now a forbidden memory, stood as a silent warning to any who dared approach.
