The Real Haunted Story of Charles Fort Military Fortress
Real Story
Near Kinsale port in County Cork, stands the formidable Charles Fort, a building dating back to the 17th century, until it was designated as a National Monument in 1971.
The Fort remained mostly deserted after the Irish Civil War. Over the next several decades, work began to slowly restore the Fort, and now visitors may enjoy their time there. After a terrible family tragedy, Charles Fort becomes a haunted house. Colonel Warnder, a widower, took his only daughter willful with him when he became commander of the Fort.
Shortly after willful arrived at the Fort, she was married to a young soldier with whom she had been engaged while taking a romantic stroll along the ramparts. On their wedding night. Wilful.
Begged her to let her take some of the lovely flowers she saw growing on the rocks below. A guard offered to go down and get her a flower if her husband, who had just tied the knot, would step down from his watch duty for a moment.
The young soldier and his wife returned to their chamber where he requested her to wait for him as planned. It took more time than anticipated to descend to get the flowers and the young soldier slept off.
After waiting for the guard to come back for an hour. Colonel warned her was notoriously a harsh commander. Final thing before turning in for the night, he saw what seemed to be a guard dozing off. Out of sheer wrath, he ordered the guard to rise immediately, even though the commander had warned the young soldier not to wake up.
He was so enraged that he pulled out his revolver and shot him without hesitation. Since he was sound asleep. Under the moonlight, the commander found out that the corpse of the watchman was really his new son-in-law as he. Unfortunately, by the time medical help arrived, he had already passed away. In a fit of wrath and despair, wilful hurled herself from the battlements, upon hearing that her father had beheaded her on her wedding night.
That evening, her father also committed suicide. A woman in white willful now wanders the enormous castle. People who were there saw her go up the stairs of the building. And her father shared before she vanished, and she was still wearing her bridal dress.
Children whose parents were stationed at Charles Fort were also seen with her beaming down from a staircase and looking over them as they slept. Several troops claimed to have seen her wandering through walls and heard her moaning in a non physical form.
One other eyewitness, the manager of a nearby hotel, said on New Year's Eve that he had seen her peering out a window towards the Fort. As he ran past the Fort, another leaned on a wall to steady his shoe and felt a hand interlock with his own.
She usually treats people well, yet she may be violent at times. The two eyewitnesses say that the vengeful ghost flung them down the steps, rendering them unconscious. The two eyewitnesses were male military personnel and it is thought that they would be the ones to provoke her fury.
Medical officer at the Fort claimed in 1922 that someone violently pulled him from outside his chamber and threw him down a flight of stairs.
A young lady dressed for her wedding caught his eye as he was assaulting her. Another night shift cop a year later felt a chilly breeze as he was being lifted off the ground and hurled down the stairs by an invisible hand. Another spectre that was supposedly seen when the Fort was still in use. Was a white rabbit.
There was a legend that the spectral rabbit would go up to sleeping guards and rouse them from their slumber, saving them from an almost certain death. If they were discovered. The gentle Ghost would just go as soon as their victim woke up.
