THE POSSESSION OF LILY GRANGER
A little girl possessed

It all began on a stormy Friday night, when Lily Granger and her friends Emily and Jake decided to gather in the attic of the Granger household. With the rain pounding against the roof and the occasional flash of lightning illuminating the dusty space, it seemed like the perfect setting for a night of spooky fun. Among the old trunks and forgotten heirlooms, they stumbled upon an ancient Ouija board.
“Look what I found!” Emily exclaimed, pulling the board from beneath a stack of faded quilts.
Jake’s eyes widened with excitement. “This is going to be epic! Let’s see if we can contact any spirits.”
Lily, always the curious one, eagerly agreed. They sat in a circle around the board, their fingers trembling with a mix of fear and anticipation as they placed them on the planchette. They began to ask questions, laughing nervously each time the planchette moved, convinced that one of them was pushing it.
“Is anyone here with us?” Jake asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
To their surprise, the planchette moved to “YES.” The children exchanged uneasy glances, but their curiosity outweighed their fear.
“What is your name?” Lily asked.
The planchette began to spell out a name: “A-Z-A-R-I-A-H.”
A shiver ran down Lily’s spine as she watched the planchette move with a force that seemed to come from nowhere. She glanced at her friends, whose faces had turned pale. For a moment, silence hung heavy in the air, only broken by the distant rumble of thunder.
“Let’s stop,” Emily suggested, her voice shaking. “This doesn’t feel right.”
But before they could remove their fingers from the planchette, it moved again, faster this time, spelling out a chilling message: “I AM COMING.”
Panic set in, and the children hastily packed away the Ouija board, vowing never to speak of the night’s events again. However, the damage had already been done.
In the days that followed, Lily began to change. She became withdrawn, her once bright eyes now dull and lifeless. She spoke in strange languages, uttering words that no one could understand. Her parents, Julie and Michael Granger, initially dismissed her behavior as a phase, a result of stress from school or perhaps just a vivid imagination.
But soon, it became impossible to ignore. Objects in the house began to move on their own, strange symbols appeared on the walls, and Lily’s room grew unbearably cold, regardless of the weather outside. The final straw came one night when Julie found Lily standing in the middle of the living room, her eyes rolling back into her head and a voice not her own emanating from her small frame.
Terrified, the Grangers sought help from their local priest, Father O’Malley, who, upon hearing their story and witnessing Lily’s condition, knew they were dealing with something far beyond their understanding. He called upon an expert in demonology, Dr. Evelyn Blackwood, who arrived at the Granger household with an air of grim determination.
Evelyn was a woman of keen intellect and unwavering resolve, with years of experience dealing with the supernatural. She explained to the Grangers that their daughter was possessed by Azariah, an ancient and malevolent spirit that sought to use Lily as a vessel to open a portal to its world, one of darkness and despair.
The Grangers were heartbroken, but determined to save their daughter. They agreed to Evelyn’s plan: an exorcism, a ritual that had to be performed with precision and courage. The night of the exorcism, the storm returned, as if nature itself was aware of the battle about to take place.
With Father O’Malley by her side, Evelyn began the ritual, chanting ancient incantations and commanding Azariah to leave Lily’s body. The room grew colder with each passing minute, and Lily’s possessed form writhed and contorted in unnatural ways. The air was thick with tension, and the shadows seemed to come alive, dancing menacingly on the walls.
As the ritual reached its climax, Azariah’s voice echoed through the room, filled with rage and defiance. “You cannot defeat me! She is mine!”
Evelyn’s voice never wavered. “In the name of all that is holy, I command you to leave this child and return to the abyss from whence you came!”
With a final, ear-piercing scream, Lily’s body convulsed violently before collapsing onto the floor. Silence followed, a stark contrast to the chaos that had just ensued. Slowly, Lily’s eyes fluttered open, filled with confusion but no longer haunted by the darkness.
The Grangers rushed to her side, tears of relief streaming down their faces. Evelyn and Father O’Malley exchanged a knowing glance; the battle had been won, but the war against evil was far from over.
In the weeks that followed, the Granger household returned to a semblance of normalcy. Lily’s laughter once again filled the halls, and the strange occurrences ceased. But the memory of that night lingered, a constant reminder of the thin veil that separates our world from the unknown.
And as for the Ouija board, it was buried deep in the woods, never to be found again.
