The Piece of Texas Toast that kept reappearing
A supernatural occurrence that led to others continues to be unexplained.

A piece of bread on the windowsill
There is a saying that truth is stranger than fiction, and indeed it is. A relative moved into a house a few years ago and had experiences straight out of paranormal files. It began with her noticing a piece of bread on the windowsill next to their front door.
She said it looked like a slice of Texas toast that someone had begun eating. She threw it in the trash. The next morning, when she went outside, the bread was on the windowsill again.
During the two years she lived in the home, her three children would randomly see the bread that looked as if it had been nibbled on. They tossed it, only for the bread to return to the windowsill without explanation.
Did a previous owner like Texas toast?
The middle son told me he once crushed the Texas toast with a hammer and threw it in the trash. Later in the week, it was back. They were intrigued but did not ask questions like "Is there a spirit here who wants to make itself known?"
If what is shown on paranormal show reenactments is true, their engagement would have made things worse by causing the entity to increase in power. So many people believe they are dealing with a harmless spirit or one of a child. Eventually, the evil becomes darker and more sinister.
Haunted Christmas
I visited the family a few times and never noticed anything out of the ordinary until Christmas of 2023. After eating dinner, I began to feel lethargic and could barely hold my head up. I had to fight to sit up straight, and I sensed that the atmosphere was off spiritually in that house.
When we were leaving, my son asked if I had noticed that "Something" was inside the home. I replied yes. The next day, I shared our experience, and the relative who lived there said her dog would not go in the basement, but other than that, and the bread reappearing there were no problems.
Strange things began happening
After the family moved, I was informed that the landlord had asked if they had noticed anything unusual while living there. The homeowner informed my relative that while cleaning for new tenants, the maintenance crew heard an upstairs door opening and shutting, and the sound of feet.
The three children said they each had been home alone several times and never observed anything strange. I don't know why a slice of Texas toast bread kept appearing even after it was destroyed, or why the dog was afraid of the basement.
I have no explanation for why whatever was in the house targeted me and my son. Under normal circumstances, one of us would have said, "Get out in the Name of Jesus," but I was caught off guard and in someone else's home.
I wish my family member had asked her landlord about the bread and perhaps learned the significance of it. I am thankful my relatives moved, and nobody was hurt. They were wise not to engage or ask questions because who knows what they might have unleashed.

A missed opportunity?
Part of me wishes my son and I had confronted the evil with the power of God in us. Again, it was not our home, and I was depressed because my husband had passed away, and Christmas was his favorite time of year.
I was not in shape to do a spiritual battle, and things might have gone wrong. I may have done more harm than good. It is my goal to be prepared with the full armour of God from now on because I never know when or where I may encounter something similar.
I don't seek out the unexplained but will deal with it when it shows up. I do wish there had been an explanation for why the same piece of bread kept reappearing.
