Liam found an old camera in the attic, dusty and forgotten. Curious, he snapped a few photos around the house. When he checked the images, he noticed a shadowy figure standing behind him in each shot—a figure he hadn't seen before. At first, he brushed it off, but in each new picture he took, the figure drew closer, its face slowly becoming visible, a twisted smile forming.
Terrified, he tried to destroy the camera, but it wouldn’t break. The next day, he found a single new photo waiting on his phone: himself, asleep, with the figure looming over his bed.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
