The Paranormal Digest for Nov 29, 2025
The Whaley House, Loveland Frogman, and more

This week represents the final Paranormal Digest for the month of November, which means that Christmas is right around the corner. I still have a few more weeks of paranormal weirdness to share with you all before Santa (or maybe Krampus) arrives, so let’s dive into this week’s spooky fun.
Haunted Location — The Whaley House
There is a familiar trope in horror that centers on a house being built on a burial ground, with Poltergeist being the perfect example. The Whaley House, which is in Old Town San Diego, was built on a spot that was once home to the town gallows. Building a property on a spot like that feels like a bad idea, and that certainly seems to have played out. Death and tragedy followed the Whaley family within the walls of their home, with later generations refusing to stay there due to paranormal activity. The property is now a museum, with ghosts said to be part of the exhibits.

Urban Legend — Resurrection Mary
Somewhere between 1920 and 1930, after an evening of fun and frivolity at the Oh Henry Ballroom in Chicago, Mary left after an argument with her boyfriend. She was struck by a vehicle and killed on Archer Avenue, where people to this day report seeing her walking along the street in her signature white party dress. There are even stories of her being picked up by kindly drivers, only for her to vanish moments later.

Creepy Cryptid — The Loveland Frogman
The legend of the Loveland Frogman dates back to 1955. A traveling salesman was driving along the road beside the Little Miami River in Ohio when he reported seeing a trio of 3–4-foot-tall frog people standing on 2 legs by the side of the road. The origin story now sometimes includes the detail that the frog folks were engaged in conversation. More modern versions tell of a single creature, often seen by bridges in the area.

Video of the Week — More Ohio Cryptids
You might think that the Frogman is the only creepy cryptid in the state of Ohio, but you would be wrong. The T’s Storytime Channel on YouTube has put together a fascinating video about the other cryptids that apparently roam the state. It makes you wonder if a visit to Ohio will end with you getting out alive, as there seem to be all manner of weird things looking to get you in the Buckeye State.
Horror Book of the Week — Frogs & Margarita’s by Angel Ramon
We might as well stick to the whole frog theme this week by talking about this series of books from Angel Ramon. As of now, there are 4 books in this series, but if you prefer rats, he also has a similar series called Rats & Pina Colada’s. If you want a quick read about killer frogs, then this might be a good place to start.

Random Weirdness — Ong’s Hat
You might expect to find frogs in the Pine Barrens of NJ, not to mention the Jersey Devil, but what about a ghost town that is an interdimensional portal? The now abandoned town of Ong’s Hat is very real, but the internet is riddled with stories about this place that are weird to the core. There are apparently documents called the Incunabula Papers that talk of the town being the starting point for interdimensional travel. Most believe this story to be an elaborate ARG, but there are still those who think that Ong’s Hat might be the starting point for the journey of a lifetime.

That is all for this week. Thank you for reading, and I hope to see you all again next Saturday for another read of The Paranormal Digest.
