The Package
The Pumpkin Faced Killer
It was not a dark and stormy night; instead, it was a dark and foggy one. In with the fog rolled a masked killer. He happened upon the house at 123 Cherry Lane. He stood in the street. He wore a hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and tennis shoes. He carried a package. It was wrapped in blue wrapping paper and a bow. He wrang the door bell and set the gift on the porch. Kyle, age 14, answered the door. He grabbed the gift and brought it inside. He set it on the coffee table as his best friend Reggie looked on.
“Are you nuts?” Reggie stated. Why would you order something from the dark web?”
“Haven’t you ever wanted to do something dangerous?” Kyle asked.
“I snuck into an R-rated movie once,” Reggie admitted. But this is crazy.
“It’s Halloween; “why not buy a haunted doll and try not to contact the dead?” Kyle said.
“I think you need a girlfriend dude,” Reggie joked. Kyle chuckled. He scanned the doll and noticed the doll’s slight smirk. She had long black hair and wore a black wedding dress.
“I’m Bella,” the doll said while moving her lips.
“It talks,” Reggie said. Kyle nodded.
“Sure, it talks,” Kyle said.
“I don’t like that,” Reggie told him.
“Don’t be a baby back bitch,” Kyle said mocking his friend.
We hear footsteps upstairs. So, the boys went upstairs to investigate. The front door opened and in walked the masked man. He quietly closed the door behind him and sat on the couch. He wore a pumpkin mask. Kyle and Reggie looked all around. The power went out and the boys found themselves in total darkness. Kyle and Reggie pulled out their phones and used them as flashlights. They heard a hacking cough and footsteps. They looked over at the stairway; the masked killer charged up the stairs. The boys ran into Kyle’s room and grabbed baseball bats. Each boy had a bat in hand. Next the killer beat on the door. He threw himself against the door.
“Play with me boys,” the man said in a high-pitched voice. “I got candy in my van.”
“Keep your own candy, weirdo,” Kyle said.
“Quit taunting this psycho,” Reggie whispered. The door burst open and the boys unleashed their fury.
They beat and pounded every open area; chin, groin, chest, and legs. He fell back against the door; he was sliding down the door until his butt was on the ground. Blood poured out of his eyes and mouth as he panted. His chest heaved and he stared blankly at the boys.
“I only wanted to play with you,” the man stated.
“Go play with yourself freak!” Kyle said.
The man laughed and the mask split. We see a demon face with a pointy chin, lips pulled back, over sharp teeth. He stood up and the boys swung again, but he quit registering pain. The killer wearing the pumpkin mask ripped the bats out of Kyle and Reggie’s hands and he tossed them out of reach. He let out his cat-like claws and ripped out the boys’ throats. He clawed open their stomachs and began eating their flesh. He made grumps, groans, and slurping noises as he ate. An hour later, Kyle’s parents, Carl and Vanessa, came home.
“Looks like our son has a new doll,” Vanessa said.
“Would you play with me?” Bella asked.
“I’ll play with you little doll,” Vanessa said.
“No, play with me!” a high-pitched voice insisted. They turned to see the pumpkin faced killer fast approaching. Vanessa and Karl’s screams echoed throughout the hills.
