The cabin in the woods had been abandoned for years, but one night, a candle burned in the window. The cabin was thousands of years old, and it was well known that spooky events always took place there. Every night, there would be a deep mist appeared around the cabin and screams of terror would fill the air. There would be tapping on the windows, and loud banging on the walls that would cause the cabin to shake.

A candle had never been seen burning in the cabin window until this very night. I thought it was strange, so I gathered my three friends and we decided to investigate the cabin. We made sure that we all had warm jackets, a pocketknife each and a flashlight. We were terrified to go there, yet at the same time, adrenaline pumped through our bodies pushing us to go on with our investigation.

The air was icy-cold, and it was difficult to breathe out here, even though we were wearing warm clothes complete with scarves and gloves. We were shivering violently, and our lips felt swollen and numb. We ignored the cold and carried on walking. The closer we got to the cabin, the louder the screams were. We were wary, so we paused for a while before heading to the door. The cabin was shaking wildly, and the screams were deafening even though we were still about twenty minutes away. The candle still burned brightly, though the screaming and shaking stopped just before we reached the cabin.

I asked Tom to open the door, but he refused because he thought that something horrible was in there. I didn't blame him; after all, there were a lot of weird events happening around us. Craig on the other hand ignored us and booted the door open. He thought that some kids might be playing a prank on us. Craig had never believed in supernatural events, he thought it was all bullshit.

The door slammed shut in our faces, so Craig gave it another more violent boot. The door flew open with some force that was more forceful than Craig's boot, almost knocking us over. A loud scream came from inside the cabin, but we ignored it and stepped inside anyway. All three of us started choking violently from the minute that we stepped inside. The cabin was extremely misty and there was a huge smell of gases in the air. Our throats convulsed leaving us feeling like we were being strangled, and gasping for breath. Steve, walked over to the candle which wasn't set by a window but was set on a table lighting up a map. Still, the candle was unusually bright and you could see it burning in the window from outside. There were three tattered old musty books on the table, and Steve attempted to pick one up. However, he let out a scream and dropped it to the floor as the book had erupted in flames in his hand. Steve's scream triggered more screaming which sounded like there were thousands of others surrounding us, though we couldn't see anyone.

Suddenly out of nowhere, thousands of shimmering blue faces lit up the cabin. Each face was round with what looked like faded wrinkles around the eyes and wide mouths. The screaming became louder and these faces circled us using extremely fast motions that were getting faster by the minute. They suddenly became a big blur of blue flashing light, then there was a violent wind that knocked all three of us off our feet and into the air. We were spinning so fast that the whole cabin looked like a blue lightning storm, even though it was only lit by candlelight, which we could no longer see. After ten minutes, we were violently thrown to the ground. We attempted to stand up, but the cabin began shaking violently, like an earthquake knocking us back down. The door began opening and slamming wildly, in between flashes of brilliant blue light that seemed to appear just outside of it.

Everything went silent for a while, so we all decided to stand up. We were scared out of our minds and we ran to the cabin door in an attempt to leave. We didn't get very far, as we were knocked back by a large blue bolt of lightning that flung us back into the middle of the cabin. Our stomachs felt like they had been boiled from the inside as the bolt had hit us all in the middle of our stomachs. I wretched and then vomited violently which caused my stomach to feel like it was being ripped open from the inside. I could hear the others, they too were vomiting. The cabin now smelled ten times worse, besides the stench of death that surrounded us. It was pungent and we knew none of us was going to make it out of here.

Tom let out a piercing scream. All we could see, was a gigantic blue transparent hand moving fast in the air. We heard heads banging into the sides of the cabin, bones cracking and finally a deathly gurgling; then suddenly there was a loud THUD followed by silence. I tried calling Tom's name, though I got no reply.

I knew he was now dead.

I sat there, frozen with my mouth open in horror. I couldn't move or speak, and Steve was quiet too. We knew there was something strange about this cabin, though neither of us expected this.

We also knew that we had to try and get out of here before we were murdered too.

I managed to force myself onto my feet. Steve remained where he was because he couldn't feel his legs. However, I couldn't just leave him there so I felt my way through the dark and attempted to help him up. I managed to stand him up but no sooner had I done that before I felt a bone-breaking punch in my back which threw me across the room. I banged my head hard against a cabin wall which disoriented me for a bit. As I was just coming around, I heard several loud shrieks that sounded like several monsters had flown over the roof of the cabin. The cabin filled with brilliant blue light and shook violently again. It was almost impossible to stabilise myself, even though I was holding on to the cabin walls. I heard a chilling scream come from Steve, and I heard the sound of body parts being thrown around the room. It was completely dark as the candle had now burned out, and I was more than terrified. The room suddenly fell silent again.

I listened intently, waiting for the screaming and shaking to start again. When I was sure that I was safe; I attempted to move. However, I heard a cracking and squelching sound which sounded like body parts fitting themselves back together. I attempted to back away from the wall, aiming slowly for the door, though I could hear footsteps and shuffling coming toward me. I stopped moving, hoping that it would stop whatever it was from moving. It worked for a few minutes, though when I moved again; I was greeted by a shadow of something that looked human which stood in front of me and placed either of its hands on each side of me, on the wall, stopping me from escaping. I felt an icy cold tingle on my neck, and I could smell the breath of several dead rats. I knew that I couldn't afford to freeze this time or I would end up dead, so I ducked and tried to tipple over underneath the thing's legs. I succeeded, though a huge brilliant white tornado cloud appeared above me and swallowed me up with it, spinning me until I landed with a thud back into the room. Several shimmering and gaping faces had surrounded me again, and they were spinning fast. They united forming one massive face with a very wide jaw, blowing a violent wind out of the mouth. I managed to feel a bar on the wall behind me and I clung to it for dear life. The thing must have given up because the room went dark again, and this time, it stayed quiet for longer.

Feeling safe to do so; I managed to get my flashlight from my pocket and I turned it on. The cabin was a wreck, and the body parts of my friends were thrown in different corners of the room. I observed the wreckage, and to my horror, I discovered that there were more than just my friend's body parts; there were more than I could count, and blood and guts also splattered against the cabin walls.

The cabin was barely standing, and the ceiling was starting to cave in. I had no time to hang around and examine the cabin intensely, so I made for the door and I got out, fast. Once outside, I took my petrol lighter and lit it. I then ignited a taper that was in my pocket and burned down the cabin until it was just ash. I then covered the ash and the ground in holy water and placed a cross on top of the ashes, so that the dead could never be awakened ever again.

I do wonder what you dream about at night to be able to write this kind of horror. Don't worry because I will never invite you on a camping trip, just in case you make camping even worse than I already hate camping. This story conjures up horrible thoughts - great camping story to tell and scare...
