The Night I Died

Horror Story 1

By Malina JordanPublished 5 years ago 2 min read

It was a night like any other night, and I was getting ready for a party at Nick's house. The moon was shining down, and I had the alcohol ready for the party. A normal walk to his house consists of hearing the owls hoot, the ambulances in the distance, but tonight, something was a bit...off. As I turned the corner, the feeling of the hairs standing up on my neck was strong and unnerving. Darkness is the only thing that was noticeable, besides the other lonely houses. The feeling persisted as I ran onto Nick's steps, but subsided, only somewhat, when I got inside the house.

As the party rages on, Nick notices me peering out the windows more often, and gives me a strange stare. I look at him back, but looked back at my cup. The party ends as everyone starts to leave, and I asked Nick if he could walk with me back to my place. He looks at me apprehensively, but he says yes.

We're walking towards my house, when I notice he's also looking around. Nick, who's always been the strong one, had a look of fear in his eyes. While he's mentioning to me how he's feeling, we hear a sound: an ungodly sound that can only be formed in the depths of hell. The sound of a roar, but with a gurgle. A sound like no other. We both turn around, and this thing, this rotting roaring thing comes hobbling towards us. Its eyes fixed on us, and we can only see darkness and death. One eye starts to droop downwards, almost like taffy, and continues to chase us. It sets a pace faster than we can run, and Nick yells for me to run.

I run as fast as I could, and hid behind a tree. Nick runs passed me, but this demon catches him. The scream from Nick was horrible, spine-chilling, and painful because this thing caught him. I see Nick tumble to the ground, and the thing tears into his torso. He's gurgling as he's dying, and the thing is eating him alive. I can see his stomach contents, what used to be his intestine, and his heart...his heart is still beating! I run, but had to stop and vomit. I couldn't hold it back after remembering Nick's state. I miss him already, but I have to keep running. I hear the howl, and continue to run. However, tripping on a crack in the sidewalk sealed my doom. The thing comes towards me, and all I can do is yell as the owls continue to hoot.

Waking up in the hospital was startling, but it seemed everything was a dream. Alcohol can play tricks on the mind, but the dream seemed too surreal. My friend comes to visit and asks how I'm doing. I look at him strangely and tell him I'm OK. His eyeball starts to slide down, and his skin starts sloughing off his body. Right there I knew, this wasn't a dream, and I'm next.
