The ground shook as lightning struck the wet roads of ‘Murder Town’, and storms raged above me. Trees swayed madly in the frosty breeze. Fred, Mia and I were in front of an old, rusty house, which we were sent to find a mysterious relic that nobody but us knew about. Signs lodged into the gravel in front of the haunted house had words written on them like ‘I will go back if I were you!’ It was even more daunting because it was in bright red ink, which looked like blood.

We took a deep breath and covertly opened the hard wooden door, hoping that nobody would see us. I stepped in first and glanced around the room. Spider webs covered the mouldy, drenched, walls and an iron fan above was spinning slowly, and then it suddenly stopped as if turned off. Cockroaches crawled all over the place, and a green slimy liquid dripped down the roof and splashed onto the tiled floor before magically vanishing. I was too petrified to take another step.

Suddenly, the door shot open, which gave me a shock. I realised that it was Fred and Mia. “You scared me half to death!” I exclaimed, but they were too terrified to speak.

I walked down the hallway, past blood-curdling pictures in frames on the walls, which strangely changed with the passing of time. Some were of dark graveyards while others were of people squirming in pain. All of them are dreadful. Beads of sweat dripped down my face and onto my saturated hoodie. I heard voices cackling and shrieking things like, “Keep going forward!” or “You are walking straight to your death”. Then I started hallucinating. Ghosts drifted through the hall and the floor slowly faded away. Ugly and grotesque witches cackled and rode brooms. I pinched myself to snap out of it.

Just then, something struck me, where are Fred and Mia! I turned around but all I saw was a wide-open door, and heavy rain splattering on the footpath. Mia had the lamp, so I was stuck in total darkness. I started to become nyctophobic. Out of the blue, there was a crash. I dashed into the next room and saw a million shards of glass shimmering on the dusty carpet. A broken window, with the wind howling through pushing the curtains. A young man wearing a black cape stood in front of the window. He had wide-open eyes and I saw a glint of in his mouth. When widened his it all made sense… He was a vampire.

It was wearing the golden relic that I was looking for, and it looked like it was thirsty for blood. It charged forward and bit my arm with sharp, jagged fangs. I shrieked in agony as the fangs sank deeper into my flesh. Finally, it pulled them out and swallowed the blood it got. I writhed in pain and muttered clandestine curses, learnt from my master. The creature started to melt into a pale puddle. In the middle, lay the relic. I limped over to the ring, and inserted it onto a finger on my uninjured arm.

At the drop of a hat, I disappeared and then reappeared in front of my master’s palace. In front of me stood Fred and Mia, ready to greet me.
