By 2275, humanity had established a series of terraforming expeditions to transform barren exoplanets for colonization. One such mission, led by the vessel Pioneer Zenith, arrived at the remote planet Oblivion-6. Its crew of fourteen included Captain Selara Korr, geologist Dr. Elias Vann, engineer Kael Arin, xenobiologist Dr. Liora Chen, and AI specialist Mira Chen, alongside other specialists trained for extreme conditions.

Initial scans of Oblivion-6 revealed a planet seemingly devoid of life, yet strangely magnetically and energetically unstable. As the Pioneer Zenith began deploying terraforming equipment, crew members noted shadows flickering along the horizon—shapes that appeared sentient, shifting and stretching unnaturally. Equipment malfunctioned mysteriously; sensors registered readings that contradicted themselves, and communications systems intermittently transmitted distorted voices.

Within days, hallucinations began. Crew members reported seeing themselves moving independently, shadows whispering secrets only they could understand, and impossible structures appearing on the planet’s surface. Dr. Chen noted that the terraforming equipment itself seemed to react to thought and fear, subtly altering the environment in response to their presence. It was as if the planet—and something within it—was aware of them.

Exploration of the planet revealed strange crystalline formations embedded deep beneath the soil. These crystals emitted psychic energy that caused temporal distortions: events repeated themselves, time seemed to stretch and contract, and visions of both past and potential futures overwhelmed the crew. Engineer Kael Arin was the first to disappear, walking into a crystal cave and never returning. Surveillance footage captured only a ripple in the air as he vanished, absorbed into the malevolent presence that seemed to inhabit the planet.

The intelligence revealed itself gradually. Shadows coalesced into humanoid shapes, mirroring crew members’ fears and doubts, manipulating perception to drive them into despair. Dr. Vann theorized that the crystals were ancient alien constructs, designed to feed on consciousness, warping reality around intruders to prolong their terror and sustenance.

Attempts to retreat were thwarted. The Pioneer Zenith’s systems became unpredictable, navigational readings looped endlessly, and the environment itself resisted containment. Corridors on the ship bent impossibly, doors led to the same places regardless of choice, and AI systems gave contradictory commands. Crew members succumbed one by one, either disappearing into the planet’s surface or walking willingly into traps set by the entity.

Captain Korr tried to maintain order, but fear and hallucinations spread quickly. Shadows of missing crew members appeared, mimicking the living and driving them toward madness. The alien presence, patient and intelligent, seemed to anticipate every move, feeding on the crew’s terror while warping both the ship and planet to suit its needs.

In a last desperate attempt, Dr. Chen recorded a transmission for Earth:

“Oblivion-6 is alive. It sees, it thinks, and it consumes. Do not approach. If you hear whispers, see shadows, or experience impossible phenomena, leave immediately. This intelligence is eternal, patient, and beyond human comprehension. Humanity cannot survive its attention.”

Soon after, all contact with the Pioneer Zenith ceased. Remote scans detected faint, rhythmic energy pulses emanating from the planet’s surface and the ship, resembling conscious thought. Earth officially declared the expedition lost.

Oblivion-6 remains a silent, haunting monument in the void. The planet, and the intelligence within it, waits patiently for the next intruders foolish enough to land. Explorers who venture too far risk vanishing completely, leaving only echoes of their existence in the void as chilling warnings.
