The Last Patient in the Asylum Wasn’t on the Records

Chapter 1: The Invitation

Dr. Eleanor Shaw, a forensic psychiatrist, receives an anonymous letter:

“Blackthorn Asylum holds answers about your mother’s death. Come before it’s demolished.”

Her mother, a nurse, vanished there in 1983. The asylum closed abruptly, its records sealed.

Chapter 2: The Asylum’s Whisper

Blackthorn looms over the cliffs, its windows boarded like closed eyes. Eleanor breaks in, armed with a flashlight and her mother’s old key. The air smells of mildew and iodine.

In the director’s office, she finds patient files—all except Room 13B.

A scrawled note in the margins:

“Do not speak to Patient Zero. It mimics voices.”

Chapter 3: The Unseen Resident

Eleanor hears sobs echoing from the upper floors. She follows them to a rusted cell door marked 13B. Inside:

A child’s doll with buttons for eyes

Fingernail scratches spelling HELP in Latin

A mirror reflecting a figure behind her… but no one’s there

Her recorder picks up a whisper: “Eleanor… you shouldn’t have come.” Her mother’s voice.

Chapter 4: The Director’s Secret

In the basement, Eleanor discovers a hidden lab. Faded journal entries reveal unethical experiments:

“Patient Zero is not human. It feeds on memories. We trapped it here, but it needs a new host…”

The last entry, dated the night her mother disappeared:

“It’s taken Clara. God forgive us.”

Chapter 5: The Mimic

Shadows stalk Eleanor. The lights flicker. She sees her mother in the hallways, mouthing “Run.”

Patient Zero appears as loved ones: her dead father, her estranged brother. It pleads:

“Let me out. I’ll tell you where Clara is.”

Chapter 6: The Choice

Eleanor finds her mother’s skeleton in 13B, clutching a locket with her photo. Patient Zero materializes—a shifting void with her mother’s face.

“I gave her peace,” it croons. “Now you’ll give me freedom.”

Chapter 7: The Host

The asylum collapses around her. Patient Zero’s true form emerges—a shadowy mass with glowing eyes. It offers a deal:

“Take my place, or I’ll wear your face next.”

Eleanor smashes the locket, unleashing her mother’s spirit. The two entities clash, buying her time.

Epilogue: The New Director

Eleanor escapes, but Patient Zero’s laughter echoes in her mind.

Months later, workers demolishing Blackthorn find a fresh file in the rubble:

“Dr. Eleanor Shaw – Patient 13B. Diagnosis: Possession.”

In the mirror, her reflection smiles.

“Would you risk uncovering family secrets… if it meant becoming the monster?”
