The year was 2148, and the world had become a tangled web of hyperconnected devices and omnipresent media. In the sprawling city of Arcadia, WAVE 99.9 was the last independent radio station broadcasting live content.

The station was run by Mara Voss, a passionate DJ known for her late-night show, The Midnight Hour, where she played forgotten music and told eerie stories.

One stormy night, Mara received an anonymous audio file titled simply, “The Signal.” Intrigued, she decided to air it during her show.

The broadcast started with a low hum, then strange static, followed by distorted voices speaking in a language no one recognized. The signal seemed to seep into the listeners’ minds — triggering vivid nightmares, anxiety, and hallucinations.

Listeners called the station in panic. Phones went dead. Screens flickered.

Then came the disappearances.

Listeners who heard the broadcast vanished without a trace, leaving behind only chilling whispers caught on home devices.

Determined to uncover the truth, Mara traced the signal to an abandoned facility on the outskirts of Arcadia, once used for experimental communications with deep space probes.

Inside, she found dusty consoles, broken monitors, and a single active transmitter pulsing with eerie light.

As Mara approached, the transmitter emitted a piercing tone — and suddenly, she saw visions of otherworldly landscapes, voids between stars where dark entities waited.

Her mind began to unravel.

The signal was not from space — it was a gateway.

She tried to leave but the door slammed shut.

The last thing Mara broadcast was a warning:

"Do not listen. Do not answer. They are coming."

The station went silent.
