Hi, my name is Elena, Elena Miller, I'm 17. I have emerald green eyes and I have very beautiful wavy pink hair. I dyed them on myself after my family died. I wanted to change my mind, I was sick of my hazel brown hair. I live with my best friend Amelia Collins, she has medium raven black hair and she has very beautiful ocean blue eyes, we could easily get lost. She is practically like my second sister. Our house is located in the countryside very close to the old mansion on 67th street. I don't know what's wrong with this establishment, and I'm not sure I want to know. Anyway, I'm more of a complicated and stubborn type of girl. I do what I want. From a young age, I have always convinced myself that ghosts do not exist, that they only live in the frightening stories children tell when they do not want to sleep. And I wanted at all costs to continue to believe it. Ghosts are not real. I am sure of it. These are just legends.

The evening

I'm looking at the time on my cell, it's 11:30 p.m. Maybe I should get ready for bed. Amelia has been sleeping for 1 hour and a half already, and I'm still up doing what? Nothing at all as always. Besides, I have class tomorrow, I'm going to wake up like a zombie again because I wouldn't have had my hours of sleep. On top of that, Amé talks in his sleep, it's super creepy. After brushing my teeth and putting on my pajamas, I went to bed. As every night before going to bed, I take the frame from my bedside table and contemplate it with tears in my eyes. You guessed it this photo is of my family. Mom, Dad, Lexie, Timo (Timothy), I miss you so much, but what happened to you? I still don't believe this car accident story and I will find out the truth, I promise.

The high school

In geology class

I've always hated geology lessons, I can't understand it, but I still have an average of 80. Find the error. Looking at the face of the teacher (Ms. Evans), I knew, we all knew that today’s class was not going to be like the others.

Teacher: Good morning everyone, before we start, I have something to tell you. Another student (Cynthia parker) went missing this summer.

Everyone looked at each other. And we all knew where poor Cynthia had ended up but sadly no one could help her. And panic swept over the whole class.

The teacher: A little silence, please. Open all of your textbooks to page 45. Today's Lesson: Internal Dynamics of the Earth.

But what was the teacher expecting? That we all take its course like nothing has happened? Pfft then there she dreams. I mean there is still another student who was missing. And everyone was concerned about it. So I raised my hand

The teacher: Yes Mrs. Miller?

Me: But ma'am, how are we supposed to take your class and pretend everything is fine right after the news you just broke to us? We are all very worried and no one is supportive.

Teacher: Yes, I understand your concerns. But Elena, let's be realistic the class has to go on anyway, I must have taught you well. We can't just let go.

Me: Yeah good if you say so.

In short, the class passed and no one was completely present, we all had our heads elsewhere. Comments about Cynthia's disappearance swirled around the school. After a while, I went outside. It all made me sick.

Amelia followed me

Amé: Elena, are you all right?

Me: Yeah, it's just ... that I got over all these disappearances. You know. When will all this end? So it will never stop? How many more students before the police or someone finally decides to act? 3, 10, 100?

Amé: Yeah I know, it's very worrying, but I'm sure this will all work out someday. Someone's gonna act fine eventually, right?

Me: And who will be next? What if it's me, or ... even you? Honey I don't want anything to happen to you, I don't want to lose you, already losing Lexie was so painful so I can't imagine what I would do without you.

Amé: Elena please stop, don't think so, nothing will happen to you and me either. You won't lose me, you hear? Do not worry.

Me: Thanks Amé, otherwise did you understand something in today's Geo class?

Amé: Nop nothing at all and you?

Me: Me neither, I was too much in my thoughts.

Amé: Same for me. Come on home, math class is in less than 5 minutes, we should hurry if we don't want to be late. You know Mr. Taylor.

Me: Yes let's go

The math class went fairly quickly and in a rather calm and tense atmosphere. Again everyone was deep in thought and barely listening the teacher's explanations.

Mr Taylor must have realized this because he says: "I know everyone is worried about recent events but try to make a little effort please. Today's subject matter is very important and it will inevitably be in next week's exam."
