The Hunted Bridge

Echoes of Fear: The Hunted Bridge

By Hafsa MughalPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

Once, two friends went to a late-night party. Amy and Bell were having a great time at the party. When one of their friends suggested that they tell horror stories, everyone began sharing their horrible experiences or stories that were obviously made up. One girl, whom Amy didn’t recognize, told the most horrible story of all. She spoke of a bridge rumored to be haunted,

Once how a child playing with his friend accidentally fell off the bridge and into the river. His mother, devastated by the loss of her only son, would spend all day and night on the bridge searching for him, as his body was never found. Some people said that after some time, the woman would bring food and drop it under the bridge for her son. One day, the woman went to the bridge and disappeared; no one knew what happened to her. But if you went to that bridge at night, you would see a woman calling her son's name, wearing a distorted yellow dress with long black hair, looking down at the river. If you didn’t turn and leave the place or went to help her, she would look at you with her hollow eyes and try to drag you into the river as prey for her hungry son. After she finished her story, everyone was looking at her quietly. It was obvious that her story had scared everyone.

When it was time to leave, Bell approached the girl and asked if her story was true and if she could show them the bridge. Amy was not comfortable with the idea but didn’t say anything. The girl agreed, and together they went to find the bridge. They reached the bridge around midnight. Bell, Amy, and the other girl got out of the car and started looking around, but the bridge was empty. Bell looked disappointed until they heard a child's voice from under the bridge, calling for his mother and asking for food. Bell and Amy were shocked and scared. Suddenly, from behind, they heard a woman's voice saying that she had his meal. Bell and Amy looked behind them to see the girl smiling, then her fingernails turned into big claws and her hair grew long. The whole bridge was filled with mist so thick that the girls couldn’t see anything.

They could hear the woman's footsteps and the boy's voice. Without thinking, Amy ran in what she thought was the direction of the car. Bell followed her. As they both got inside the car and locked the doors, Amy tried to start the car, but it wouldn’t start. Suddenly, Bell screamed as the woman was also sitting behind them in the car. Amy, without thinking, stepped on the gas, and the car moved forward. Due to the mist, they couldn’t see that the car hit the bridge wall and they went tumbling into the river. The girl's car was found in the river, but there was no sign of the girls. the police searched day and night but couldn't find them.

The police assumed that the girls went to the bridge for fun and might have lost control of their car. But one thing the police couldn’t understand was that the bridge was in the opposite direction of the girl's home and led out of town. Moreover, the bridge was blocked by fences that were locked, so how could the girls get onto the bridge with her car without opening the gate and why would the girls go to the a bridge that was close due to people accidentally falling or jumping to their death?
