The Hollywood Hills Mansion had been vacant for years. Once the pride of the community, it had since fallen into a state of disrepair. Its windows were boarded up, the paint was peeling, and the garden was overgrown. It was a sad sight, but it didn't stop the rumours from spreading.

They said that the mansion was cursed. They said that the spirits of its former inhabitants still roamed its halls. But nobody dared to investigate, until one summer night.

A group of five friends had just graduated high school and were looking for a thrill. They had heard about the haunted mansion and decided to investigate. They parked their car down the street and made their way up the overgrown garden path.

As they approached the mansion, they felt an eerie chill in the air. The front door was locked, but they managed to pry open one of the boarded-up windows. They squeezed through and found themselves in a dusty, dimly lit foyer.

The air was thick with the musty scent of old furniture and neglect. They explored the ground floor and found nothing out of the ordinary. The walls were adorned with faded paintings, and the furniture was covered in cobwebs.

It wasn't until they started up the grand staircase that things began to get strange. The staircase was lined with portraits of the former inhabitants. As they climbed, the eyes in the portraits seemed to follow them, their expressions growing more sinister.

At the top of the stairs, they found themselves in a long hallway. The doors to the various rooms were all shut, but they could hear faint whispers and moans coming from behind them. The hairs on the back of their necks stood up, and they felt as though they were being watched.

The group split up to investigate the various rooms. One by one, they opened the doors and peeked inside. The first few rooms were unremarkable, but then they found something that made their blood run cold.

In one of the bedrooms, they found a black, tattered book lying on the bed. It was open to a page that depicted a ritual of some sort. The pages were filled with strange symbols and incantations in a language they didn't recognize.

Suddenly, they heard a loud thud coming from the room next door. They cautiously made their way over and pushed open the door. The room was dark, and they could barely make out the shape of a figure in the corner.

As they approached, the figure suddenly lunged at them, emitting a blood-curdling scream. They stumbled back, but the figure had disappeared. In its place, they found a piece of old parchment with a message scrawled in blood-red ink:

"GET OUT."

They realized that they had overstayed their welcome and that it was time to leave. They made their way back down the staircase, but as they reached the bottom, they heard the sound of creaking floorboards from above.

They turned to look, and in the dim light, they saw the silhouette of a woman. She was dressed in a long white gown, and her hair hung down in tangles. She was slowly descending the staircase, her eyes fixed on them.

They tried to run, but their legs felt heavy, as though they were rooted to the spot. The woman continued to approach, her mouth open as if she were screaming. They could hear her whispers now, the words indecipherable.

Just as she was about to reach them, they felt a gust of wind blow through the house. It was like a sudden burst of energy that swept the woman away, and they were released from their paralysis.

They ran out of the mansion and never looked back. They never spoke of their experience again, but they knew that they had come face to face with something evil that night.
