The Graveyard Curse

A Brother’s Terrifying Encounter with the Unseen

By LilyPublished 10 months ago 6 min read

The incident mainly happened to him and his elder brother. It was a one-night event, the time was December 13, 2016. He was in eighth grade then, and his elder brother was in tenth grade. He and his elder brother had a wonderful, friendly relationship, with an age difference of two or three years. Sagar's father was a poultry businessman by profession. Their family was doing quite well; it wasn't like they were in need.

Four kilometers away from their village was a village called Ghoradar. This village was mostly inhabited by people of the Hindu community, and a large fair was held there at a specific time of the year. Many people from the surrounding areas would come to that fair. So, one time, in December, during the winter, since the fair was going to be held, announcements were being made that there would be a fair there, a huge arrangement, and everyone was invited to come. Hearing about the fair, Sagar's heart was filled with joy, thinking he would go to the fair. In rural areas, fairs have a special appeal. Even in this age of modernity, the appeal of fairs hasn't faded, as can still be seen at every fair. Although modernity has touched them, fairs still have a different kind of appeal, as a result of which, Sagar's mind was also filled with joy about going to the fair.

But when he looked at his brother, he saw that his brother was upset. Then Sagar said, "Why are you upset, brother? Aren't you going to the fair?" Then his brother said, "Where will I get the money to go to the fair? Am I going to the fair empty-handed? Won't we have to eat something, buy something? If I ask Dad for money now, he won't give it to go to the fair."

Now, what to do? How would they go to the fair? Both of them became worried about this. Indeed, the elder brother's reason for being upset was valid. Now, Sagar's mind also became upset, but a mischievous idea popped into his head. He shared that mischievous idea with his elder brother. His elder brother didn't agree after hearing this. But at one point, they agreed. The idea was that this Sagar had a large betel nut garden belonging to his uncle. On the night of December 13th, the two of them would go to this betel nut garden and steal betel nuts from a few trees. They would steal the betel nuts and sell them at the market the next morning. With the money, they would both go to the fair. That's what they were thinking. Even though this bad idea came to him, the older brother's heart wasn't in it. He wasn't sure if going there was the right thing to do. There were two reasons why his heart wasn't in it. One was that even though it was his uncle's garden, stealing is stealing. And since he was in tenth grade, he wasn't exactly a kid. If it became known, it could be a matter of pride. Naturally, his uncle, his own uncle, might not say anything, but they would still remember that he went to steal betel nuts.

But, because of the younger brother, Sagar's, persistence, he eventually agreed. And another reason he was hesitant was that right next to the betel nut garden was a graveyard. Basically, in that village, those who died unnatural deaths, committed suicide, or died for other reasons that we call unnatural deaths, their bodies were buried there. Many people didn't want to go that way at night. That was also a reason. Since no one goes there at night, it would be easier to steal – this was Sagar's idea. But the older brother had thought about the fear aspect quite a bit.

However, his older brother was quite brave. And it's not that Sagar was a coward, but he wasn't as brave as his older brother. Anyway, around 11:00 PM, the two of them went there. After going there, they managed to pick betel nuts from two or three trees. After they had collected a certain amount of betel nuts, his older brother said, "Okay, that's enough. Let's go home."But Sagar's brother says, "No, how much money will I get selling these few betel nuts? Climb another tree, brother." But he's not willing to run. However, with Sagar's brother's insistence, at one point he says, "Okay, fine, but this is the last one." So, they saw that it was a thin tree, and they had come during the day and marked which trees they would climb. They had seen during the day that a thin tree had quite a lot of betel nuts. So, they didn't have any trouble recognizing the betel nut tree because it was their relative's garden, and they always came and went to the garden during the day, but they didn't come much at night. After arriving near the betel nut tree, it wasn't that the betel nut tree was very big, but it was thin. Sagar's brother's older brother climbed that betel nut tree. The problem arose because Sagar's brother's older brother was older in age and heavier in weight, and the tree was thin. When he reached the top, the tree leaned to one side, and after leaning, the betel nut tree broke in the middle. And what did Sagar's brother's older brother do? That betel nut tree was right next to the edge of the garden, and on the other side of the betel nut tree was the graveyard. So, what did he do? When the betel nut tree leaned to one side and broke, he fell straight from the betel nut tree into a broken grave with a thud. He felt intense pain and screamed in pain. Meanwhile, Sagar's brother rushed to lift his brother from the grave, but when he got there, he saw two large, fox-like creatures walking towards the grave, their eyes glowing. And after coming, suddenly, in a human-like voice, one of the creatures started talking, looking at Sagar's brother, saying, "Hey, children of Adam, I will kill you two in such a way that you will be a cause of fear for everyone." While it was saying this, the creature next to the one speaking, that animal, lowered its face inside the grave and bit Sagar's brother's older brother's hand very hard. He screamed even louder from the bite.

So, what happened was, Sagar bhai's cousin was passing by on a bike because there was another road on that side. It was nighttime, so Sagar bhai didn't notice who was on the bike. He started shouting and making a commotion. The biker heard him, and it turned out to be his own cousin. But in that short time, something else happened. After biting his brother, that apparition started coming towards him. Then he recited Ayatul Kursi and blew on himself. He clapped three times, and with those three claps, the two apparitions vanished. Just then, his cousin arrived. After arriving, his older brother was pulled out of the grave. It turned out that a bone, probably a rib bone, from the corpse inside the grave where he had fallen, had pierced through Sagar bhai's older brother's back. That's why he was in so much pain. In the meantime, that fox-like creature bit him again. So, he was lifted up, but there was no way to remove the bone in that condition; it could have caused him serious harm. He was quickly taken to Mollahat Hospital on the bike.

Suddenly, Sagar Bhai heard a girl's voice whispering in his ear. The whisper was something like, "Whatever you're taking, make sure you return it to its place." But he couldn't understand what he was supposed to have taken, what had happened, what he was talking about returning. Meanwhile, his older brother was taken to the hospital. After being taken to the hospital, the doctors managed to safely remove the hand. It hadn't gone too far inside the body, so it was removed. Then, the family was informed, and his family members arrived. Among them was his uncle, who, upon arriving, listened to everything, the entire story from beginning to end. Then his uncle asked, "Okay, where is the hand?" He then went to the doctor, spoke with him, took the hand, and personally went and placed it back in the grave. After this, no further incidents occurred with the two brothers. However, the grave was that of a girl who had died an unnatural death. The hand had essentially entered his body from there. Perhaps, because it was discarded, some disembodied spirit had whispered a warning in his ear. Since it was properly returned, by the grace of God and the wisdom of his uncle, they didn't face any further problems. They didn't even need to perform any exorcisms or anything like that. By the grace of God, everything ended normally. That's the whole story. However, it's not a good idea to do such things at night.
