A military guy and his best friend drove 800 miles from Camp Lejeune in North Carolina to Lafayette, Indiana, in preparation for their wedding. . . . .

When the man tells "Monsters Among Us" around 1 a.m. on a chilly January night in 2014, the weather is terrible and the temperature is in "the negative double digits". . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The two realize they are going to run out of gas and have no money to pay for more as they get closer to Indianapolis. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"Growing up in the trucking industry with my dad, I decided to stop at a truck stop," says the individual. However, they were forced to exit the highway and look for a truckstop along the side roads because the weather had closed the main interstates. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"We discovered a more compact truck stop. It was a single truck and kind of weird. All that was visible was a truck and trailer covered in black paint. It had no discernible markings at all, according to him. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

They entered, hoping that a server or clerk would give them enough money for gas so they could reach Indianapolis. After that, they planned to visit the bank, get cash, and repay the debt. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

A waitress, a cook, and a lone truck driver were working in the neat diner they discovered inside. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"I stepped inside, struck up a conversation with the driver, and he got us each a coffee. For approximately half an hour, we sat there and discussed everything that was happening, our destination, where we were, and what we were doing. Additionally, he handed us $20 for gas. After pumping our gas outside, I stepped back inside and said to him, "Hey, I really appreciate it." I'll be back. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Fulfilling his promise, the man went back to the diner after getting money from the bank in Indianapolis. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"When we arrive at about 10 o’clock in the morning, it's boarded up," he continues. "The truck is gone, and it appears like it has been abandoned for years. However, we had only entered". . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

Upon arriving, they discover a police officer parked in the lot. After they tell him what transpired a few hours earlier, the policeman smiles and says, "Oh, you met the ghost of three". . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

"So, at a café with a fuel pump, two military personnel talked, shared a cup of coffee, and engaged with three individuals. I just got $20 worth of gas," the man utters. "When I came back, it been boarded up for, if I remember correctly, the cop said it had been boarded up for the last 25 years". . . . . . .
