There was only one rule; don't open the door. If only they had listened. Why didn't they listen?

Hillary and Jake were on night watch. It's a simple enough assignment. You sit at the officer's station and keep your eye on the door. Luther wasn't going anywhere.

Watching from the observation room, I saw Hillary and Jake. They were sitting at the officer's desk, playing cards, and carrying on. Neither had heard the screams of the dammed, but they were about to experience the shrill sound.

It was 1:09 a.m. when Hillary got up and went to the door. Why did she go look in on Luthur? They checked Luther every fifteen minutes. It wasn't time.

Staring at the screen, I could see Luther talking to Hillary through the bars. What was he saying? When Hillary looked at the refrigerator I knew what it was he was asking of her. He was hungry.

Hillary walked to the refrigerator as I yelled, "NO!" When she opened the fridge she paused. Now, she was getting the truth.

Just the smell of the blood in the refrigerator was enough to set Luther off. It wasn't his feeding time, but Luther was kept hungry, and never allowed near the door to his cell when the blood fridge was opened. Even from the screen side, the sound of the bars exploding from the wall shocked me.

He was on her so fast the camera didn't catch his movement. Jake tried to stop what was coming, but with one thrust, was launched across the room. Luther turned, looking insidiously at the camera before he sank his monstrous fangs into Hillary's neck.

"Dear god, what do we do?"

The oldest captive vampire had escaped, and Luther would make Dracula himself look tame.
