The Empty House

"The Cursed House: A Tale of Curiosity and Terror"

By TS RohithPublished 3 years ago 4 min read

The old house on the edge of town had always been shrouded in mystery. The locals whispered that it was cursed, that strange things happened inside its walls. But nobody dared to investigate, until a group of teenagers decided to explore the abandoned property on a dare.

The house was dark and musty, the air thick with the scent of decay. The floorboards creaked underfoot, and the walls seemed to be closing in on them. They explored the dusty rooms, finding old furniture and faded wallpaper. But something about the house felt off, as if it was alive and watching them.

As they ventured further into the house, they came across a door that had been boarded up. They removed the boards, and inside they found a staircase leading down into darkness. Without thinking, they descended into the basement.

The air was damp and cold, and the only light came from their flashlights. The basement was empty, except for a single door at the end of the room. It was locked, but one of the teenagers managed to pry it open.

Inside, they found a room unlike any they had ever seen. The walls were covered in strange symbols, and the air was thick with the scent of incense. In the center of the room was a pedestal, upon which rested a book bound in human skin.

They should have left the house then, but curiosity got the best of them. They opened the book and began to read the strange incantations within. As they read, the air grew colder and the room began to shake.

Suddenly, a figure appeared before them. It was a woman, but her eyes were empty and soulless. She spoke in a voice that was not her own, and the words she spoke were not of this world.

The teenagers tried to run, but the door was locked. They were trapped, and the figure advanced upon them. They huddled together in fear, praying for a way out.

Suddenly, the room was engulfed in flames. The teenagers screamed as they burned alive, their screams echoing through the empty house. And then, just as suddenly as it had started, the fire was gone. The only sound was the crackling of the embers.

The next day, the locals found the burned remains of the house. The teenagers were never seen again. Some say they were consumed by the flames, while others believe they were taken by the cursed house. But nobody ever ventured inside its walls again, for fear of what they might find.

The news of the teenagers' disappearance spread quickly through the small town, and soon the police were involved. They searched the burned-out ruins of the house, but found no trace of the missing teens. The house and marked for demolition, but nobody wanted to go near it.

But the legend of the cursed house lived on. Some said that the spirits of the dead teenagers still haunted its halls, and that on certain nights you could hear their screams echoing through the empty rooms. Others claimed that the woman they had seen in the basement was a witch, and that she had cursed the house with her dying breath.

Despite the rumors, there were those who were drawn to the house. Ghost hunters and paranormal enthusiasts came from all over to try and capture evidence of the supernatural. But no matter how many times they tried, they always left empty-handed. It was as if the house itself was protecting its secrets.

Years went by, and the cursed house became little more than a distant memory. But one day, a young couple moved into the town. They were artists, looking for a place to set up a studio. When they saw the old house on the edge of town, they knew they had found what they were looking for.

The house was in a state of disrepair, but they saw its potential. They spent months renovating it, tearing out the old wallpaper and replacing the floorboards. They painted the walls bright colors and filled the rooms with art.

But as they worked, strange things began to happen. Paintings fell off the walls, as if pushed by an invisible hand. The couple heard footsteps in the hallways at night, even though they were alone in the house. And one day, they found the door to the basement had been pried open.

Against their better judgment, they descended into the basement. The room with the strange symbols was still there, but the book was gone. In its place was a note, written in a language they didn't understand. The note was old, its edges frayed and yellowed with age. But the writing was still clear.

As they read the note, the air grew colder. They could feel the presence of something in the room with them, something that was not of this world. And then, just as suddenly as it had appeared, it was gone.

The couple left the house that day, never to return. They knew that they had uncovered something dangerous, something that was better left alone. And as they drove away, they could hear the faint sound of screams echoing through the empty rooms of the cursed house.
