The Clock Had Stopped
Not All Midnight Whispers Are Dreams...

I was in class ten at the time. Our family had just moved into an old house in the city. The house was huge, but partly broken down—like no one had lived there for decades. From day one, strange things caught my attention: dark stains on the walls, an odd smell from the wooden floorboards, and an unsettling chill in every room—even in the middle of summer.
My wristwatch, which I wore daily, suddenly stopped working the moment we moved in. The time froze at exactly 3:12 AM. I assumed the battery had died, but even after changing it, the clock wouldn’t move. That very night, things began to shift.
It was close to 3 AM. I suddenly woke up, heart pounding. The window in my room was wide open—even though I was sure I had shut it before bed. I looked outside and saw a woman standing there. Long black hair, dressed in white—but I couldn’t see her face clearly. Terrified, I closed my eyes. When I opened them, she was gone. Maybe just a nightmare?
The next morning, my mom asked, “Were you standing by our door last night? I thought I saw someone’s shadow.” I stayed quiet, but deep down, I was shaken. The second night, my alarm rang at exactly 3:12 AM—even though I never set it.
Under the door, I saw fingers—slowly sliding in and scratching the floor. I was frozen. A shadow stood outside the door. Gathering courage, I flung it open—but there was no one there.
On the third night, I decided to set up a camera while I slept. The next morning, I checked the recording—and my blood ran cold. At exactly 3:12 AM, the door creaked open by itself. Someone in white walked in and stood right next to my head. Her face was never visible—just her hair and that pale clothing.
I told my father everything. He looked into the house’s history and discovered something terrifying: years ago, a woman had taken her own life in that very house—at exactly 3:12 AM. She had lost her child, and it was said she believed her baby would return to her someday. When she died, her clock too had stopped—at 3:12.
Within a week, we moved out of the house. But to this day, whenever I check that old wristwatch—it still shows the same time:
3:12 AM.
