The Brothers Who Dined on Corpses

A True Horror Story of Two Brothers That Will Haunt Your Dreams

By Zia Ul IslamPublished 6 months ago 2 min read

Family and Tragedy

Origins: Who Were These Brothers?: In a quiet village Darya Khan in northern Punjab, Pakistan, two brothers, Farman Ahmad (35) and Muhammad Arif (31) lived a troubled, volatile life. Their family endured hardship: their mentally ill sister, Nusrat, and two broken marriages left them isolated. According to villagers, Farman was addicted to drugs; Arif reportedly had mental health issues. Their unstable family environment laid the foundation for a horror few could imagine.

The First Murders: How It Began:

In 2011, an unknown fear gripped the village graveyard. Graves were disturbed, and soon, the body of 24-year-old Saira Parveen, buried just days before, went missing. Rumors of night-time digging spread. When police investigated, they arrested Farman and barged into their home to find him cooking human flesh in a pot. Arif, the brother, was also implicated.

Farman confessed: “I dug up Saira’s grave… I made curry out of her flesh.”

By their own admission, the brothers had exhumed and consumed parts of five different bodies over months.

Why the Village Was Terrorized:

News spread like wildfire. Families began digging trenches to protect graves, gates were locked at night, and many refused to even walk past the brothers’ home. The sight and smell of rotting flesh painted a scene too terrifying for words. People feared they’d encounter unholy rituals or worse, someone could disappear next. details

Capturing the Horror: Police Informing the Public

After the 2011 arrest, the issue seemed resolved when Farman was jailed for two years under grave desecration laws, with Pakistan having no cannibalism-specific statute, But once released in 2013, the brothers retreated into silence, yet villagers remained vigilant. find out more here.

The Ghastly Second Round With Extreem Terror: Discovery in 2014

In April 2014, a stench of decaying flesh emanated from the brothers’ house. Police responded immediately and made a horrifying discovery: the severed head of a two-year-old child, along with tools stained with human remains.

Farman again confessed, this time admitting multiple exhumations and cooking of graves and Arif corroborated having participated or witnessed the acts.

Final Verdict & Sentence

In 2014, a Sargodha Anti-Terrorism Court sentenced both brothers to 12 years in prison(upto 2026) and hefty fines (approx. Rs 200,000 each). They were imprisoned separately to prevent violence. Their crimes were deemed too depraved for simple grave desecration laws.

Aftermath: Fear, Folklore, and Caution

By then, the brothers’ small village had changed forever:

  • Graves were fortified with guards, fences, or chain locks.
  • Women avoided visiting cemeteries.
  • Elderly whispered tales warning unmarried girls and travelers alike.
  • Whenever the brothers left their homes, fearful families shut doors tight.

Counselors later noted this case underlined how poverty, mental illness, and folklore can combine into unspeakable violence.
