The Boy Who Vanished: A Village's Paranormal Mystery

True Story from Bangladesh

By LilyPublished 9 months ago 6 min read

The incident is not too old, probably from around 6-7 years ago, around 2000, 16, 17, or 18. At the time, Monirul was around 12 or 13 years old. As young children are often mischievous, Monirul was quite naughty. One day, he took a coconut from someone's garden near his home without the owner's permission. Taking something without consent is generally seen as theft.

Monirul's mother heard about this and tried to discipline her children strictly. She scolded him, chasing him to beat him, saying, "How dare you take a coconut from someone else's garden? I've told you many times not to touch others' trees or take things without permission." Frightened, Monirul ran away.

Around noon, between 2:30 and 3 PM, after lunch, Monirul did not return home and was wandering around. The afternoon passed into evening, but Monirul could not be found and did not come home.

Monirul's father, who ran a shop in the local market, came home and learned that his wife had scolded their son harshly, after which he had disappeared. The father told his wife that she could have approached him more gently, as strict punishment doesn't always work with children. He criticized her method, wondering what would happen if something bad occurred - if the boy had an accident or was taken by someone.

Monirul's mother also realized that she should have disciplined him differently. They began searching, and soon the entire village knew that Monirul was missing. At that time, Mohammad Tahmid, who studied at a madrasa in the neighboring village, was around. They had heard that Monirul could not be found, so everyone started searching together. The entire village people came down with lights, but no one could find Monirul. As they kept searching, the time passed from 10:00 PM to around 11:00 PM, but there was no trace of Monirul. Meanwhile, Monirul's father started crying and weeping, wondering what happened to his son. Then some people suggested going to a religious scholar, as there might be a paranormal issue, or even if there wasn't, he might provide some information. And if no information was found, they would need to file a general diary at the police station.

There was a very well-known religious scholar in a village two or three villages away. He was currently serving at a madrasa. When they went to him and explained everything in detail, the scholar (whose name was given as Tahmid Bhai, but he asked not to reveal it) was known locally as "Khora Hujur" (Lame Scholar) because he had only one leg. He was known to everyone as a good, Allah-fearing person.

When they explained the situation, he took some time, remaining silent, then speaking a bit, then going quiet again. He said their son was taken to a specific place where there was a palm tree, and was at the top of the palm tree. A little later, he said the boy was no longer at the palm tree but had been taken to a jungle in a specific area.

He was conveying this information through his spiritual connections. When people heard about the palm tree, they quickly rushed there, certain they would find Monirul. However, they could not find him. They returned quickly and called saying they had not found him. When they told the gentleman that it was not found there, the gentleman said, "Am I telling you to go there? You won't find him by going like this. But be assured, you will find Monirul before dawn. Now go, each of you return to your homes and go to sleep." Now the gentleman is saying, "Go and sleep peacefully." But can parents really do this? Their child cannot be found. Can they sleep? They were searching the places the gentleman had mentioned, shining torches on trees, searching in every possible way, but finding nothing.

Despite searching all night, Monirul was not found. The next morning, he was found in a house in the same village, specifically in a place called 'Dogali'. Dogali is actually the space between a village house and its kitchen. An elderly woman in that house saw Monirul sleeping in this Dogali space. This was precisely the kind of place the gentleman had mentioned earlier, where spirits might leave someone. When others rushed to the village spaces similar to Dogali, they initially could not find Monirul.

As dawn broke, an elderly woman at her home began shouting, "Monirul has been found! Monirul has been found!" Hearing her cries, everyone came running. They saw Monirul sleeping soundly. They sprinkled water on his face to wake him, but Monirul could not speak. His parents also arrived, and he was quickly taken to the gentleman. The gentleman performed a spiritual cleansing and asked, "Tell me, child, what happened to you?"So then Monirul started to say that he was wandering around having eaten his mother's stars, without the courage to go home, because if he went home his mother would beat him. After that, Monirul, feeling sad, was sitting alone in a place called Rishivita some time before evening. As evening approached, suddenly Monirul felt that someone was lifting him up and he couldn't say a word, feeling like his tongue was tied.

Then Monirul began to see various beautiful scenes - beautiful palaces, houses, gardens, waterfalls, and extraordinary scenes he had never seen before. Then he saw some fruits and sweet things in front of him. Monirul ate these, and their taste was very different, very beautiful. But the strange thing was that Monirul wasn't seeing any physical form or creature, though he was seeing various things.

We sometimes hear stories of people going to the spirit world, seeing small children or elderly people with beards and beautiful faces, but he didn't see that. He just felt like he was floating alone in emptiness. Then Monirul said he felt he was going to familiar places, sometimes to the top of a palm tree, sometimes here and there.

Monirul said that in the places he was going, he couldn't speak. Even when his father, mother, and other people were walking past, looking for him, they couldn't see Monirul. Monirul could see them, but couldn't call out to them. He was just watching and unable to make any sound, or even if he tried to make a sound, no voice came out of his throat. So anyway, after that he doesn't remember much, and after waking up from sleep, he sees that the people around him - anyway at that time, the holy man says that some good spirits took Manirul away, because of which no harm would come to Manirul. They didn't even come forward because Manirul is a small person who might get scared, so they didn't approach in any form and returned him before dawn. Basically, they were taking him to various places, intentionally moving the child away from home. They had him roam around a bit, and when these spirits came and gathered information, they told him not to worry, that no harm would come to him, and that inshallah, he would reach his home as soon as possible. They promised to try to return him as quickly as they could. These details were what the spirits conveyed to the holy man, telling him not to worry, that Manirul would reach home before morning, before the sunlight fully emerged, and that Manirul was in a good place. So these were the details the spirits brought to the holy man. Anyway, Manirul eventually returns home.

And this Rishi Bhita, about this Rishi Bhita incident, he said he would provide more details, and some small incidents related to Rishi Bhita had also happened with Tahmid Bhai. For example, once when he was coming that way, he was an imam at a mosque, after performing Isha prayer when he was returning home, he saw a cat while passing by Rishi's cat. They had a pet cat at their house, so he saw a cat at that time. The cat he saw was their pet cat, although that cat is no longer alive and has died. He sits next to Rishi Bhita and thinks very seriously about how the cat came here. Whenever he tried to catch the cat, it immediately ran away. And he noticed something else - the cat was running away and there was a little light in that direction. The cat had no shadow, and if Rishi Bhita quickly walks or runs to Tahmid Bhai's house - which is a 30-second walk - he came running home and saw that the cat was sitting in the corner of the bed, eating food that was prepared for it. Then Tahmid Bhai asked his mother how long the cat had been there, and his mother said the cat had been sitting and eating for quite a while. Then he realized he had seen something terrifying because he knew his own cat very well.

Such small incidents had also happened with him from Rishi Bhita, and he has informed us that he will send more stories about Rishi Bhita.
