"The Blue Light in the Courtyard"

🔵 "Where the Blue Light Whispers... A Child Never Left" 👧🌌

Introduction

The existence of ghosts or spirits has always fascinated humanity. Some believe, others don’t. But certain incidents defy logic and remain etched in memory forever. This is one such story—a real-life account that took place in a quiet village in Bangladesh. It revolves around an old mansion, a mysterious blue light, and the shadow of a girl who was never supposed to be there.

The Setting

The incident took place around 2012 in a rural village called Bhandarpara, located near the Kumarakhali sub-district. The village stood by a river and had a few remaining structures of once-grand zamindar (landlord) estates. Among these decaying relics was an old mansion, abandoned for decades, rumored to be haunted.

One of my relatives—a skeptic who never believed in ghosts—rented this mansion for a surprisingly low price. It was large, surrounded by overgrown gardens, and perfect for a quiet life away from the city. When he was given the warning by locals that the house had "strange blue lights that glow at night." No one goes near after dark," he laughed it off.

He moved in with his wife and daughter.

The Initial Night On the very first night, something strange happened.

At around 2:30 AM, his wife suddenly woke up. She noticed a faint, bluish glow coming through the window. Thinking it might be moonlight or distant car lights, she peered outside.

What she saw chilled her to the bone.

In the courtyard, there stood a glowing figure—a girl in a white dress—shimmering with a strange blue light. The figure didn’t move, didn’t make a sound, just stood there.

She quickly woke her husband. Together, they watched in stunned silence. After a few moments, the figure slowly faded into the darkness, as if melting into the air.

They said nothing to each other and stayed awake until dawn.

The Story Behind the House

The next day, they went to speak with an elderly villager. Upon hearing the description, the old man nodded knowingly.

He told them that the mansion once belonged to a wealthy zamindar family. Decades ago, the zamindar’s youngest daughter had drowned in the courtyard well. When she passed away, she was dressed in a white dress. Since then, many had claimed to see her spirit, glowing blue, roaming the courtyard at night.

He said, “She’s not evil. But she is lost. That light is her sorrow.”

It Gets Worse

They tried to dismiss the incident. But things escalated.

One evening, their little daughter was playing outside near dusk. When the mother called her, there was no response. Panicked, she ran out to find her child standing right beside the old well, smiling and talking to… no one.

When asked, the child said calmly, “I was talking to Nila Apu (Sister Blue). She said she wants to play with me.”

That was the final straw.

Leaving the Mansion

That very night, they packed their belongings and left the mansion. They never returned. To this day, my relative avoids speaking about the experience. He still doesn’t believe in ghosts, but admits that what they saw cannot be explained by logic or science. The house still stands—abandoned, silent, and bathed in moonlight, waiting for the curious or the brave.

Villagers say that on certain nights, a soft blue glow still floats across the courtyard. If you listen closely, you might hear the faint giggle of a little girl… or see her shadow just before it vanishes into thin air.

Conclusion

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, some places carry the weight of memories, grief, and unfinished stories. The mansion in Bhandarpara is one such place—where a tragedy of the past lives on, glowing faintly in the dark, reminding us that some spirits don’t rest easy.

Not until they’re seen… and remembered.
