The Blinded

A Horror Adaptation of The Three Blind Mice

By Scott GrimPublished 3 months ago 3 min read

In the heart of the maze, where darkness reigns supreme,

Three blind souls wander, trapped in a waking dream.

Their eyes gouged out, screams silenced by thread,

They stumble through the labyrinth, where nightmares tread.

Memories flicker, like ghosts in the night,

As they think back to the day, their evil took flight.

A summer's day, so bright and so fair,

But only they knew, of the darkness lurking there.

On a summer's day, with skies so blue,

Susan ventured forth, her heart anew.

Unaware of the shadows lurking near,

She stepped into the day without fear.

But behind closed doors, the trio conspired,

Their plans for Susan never tired.

In whispers dark and secrets sown,

They plotted her downfall, hers alone.

For in the heart of town, where secrets keep,

The trio's sinister plans took leap.

And so, the stage was set, the die was cast,

As Susan ventured forth, her future vast.

A summer's day turned sinister and grim,

As the trio's plans for Susan did begin.

Little did she know, what lay in store,

As the trio's intentions began to soar.

In shadows deep, where evil thrives,

Linda leads with twisted lies.

Her charm a mask, her heart a stone,

She revels in the pain she has sown.

Dennis, her twin, with a devil's grin,

His laughter echoes through the din.

A willing pawn in Linda's game,

His conscience lost to guilt and shame.

Gary, the third, with eyes of steel,

His silence hides the pain he feels.

A coward's heart, a traitor's soul,

He played his part, he played the role.

In the shadowed barn, where darkness reigns,

Linda's whispers weave their sinister refrains.

With promises sweet and malice deep,

They led Susan to the edge, where secrets creep.

Together they plotted, their hearts grown cold,

As Susan walked the beam, their lies took hold.

Each step a gamble, each creak a sign,

Of the treachery lurking in the shadows divine.

Their laughter echoed, a symphony of sin,

As the rotten beam gave way, and chaos began.

Susan fell into the abyss below,

And in that moment, innocence was lost, and darkness did grow.

Susan, once bright, now twisted and marred,

Her trust in her friends left her broken and scarred.

Betrayed and abandoned, her innocence torn,

She now sits in her chair, a spectre of scorn.

Her mother, consumed by grief and rage,

Plots revenge on those who caused this cage.

A darkness within her heart, fuelled by pain,

So, she created a maze, where vengeance shall reign.

With eyes ablaze and a mind consumed by wrath,

She lures the trio into her twisted path.

With promises of mercy and forgiveness sweet,

She leads them deeper, into the maze's deceit.

But as they enter her lair, the trap is sprung,

And in that moment, the nightmare's begun.

With hands of fury and a heart turned cold,

She gouges out their eyes, their fate foretold.

Their screams echo through the labyrinth's halls,

As vengeance answers the darkest of calls.

Their mouths sewn shut, their voices stilled,

Their sins laid bare, their fate fulfilled.

No mercy shown, no forgiveness found,

In the depths of the maze, darkness knows no bound.

Three blind mice, they once were whole,

Now haunt the maze, their torment taking its toll.

Their flesh decaying, their bones laid bare,

They roam the corridors, consumed by despair.

In the heart of the maze, their tale took shape,

Three blind souls lost, in the shadows they gape.

Their tragedy spun, through the annals of time,

Becoming a warning, in rhythm and rhyme.

"Three blind mice, three blind mice"

Their fate immortalized, in a nursery device.

Their journey of sorrow, forever entwined,

In the verses of a tale, to warn and remind.

Though their names may fade, their legacy stays,

In the echoes of a rhyme, through the years and a maze.

For those who hear, their story rings clear,

A cautionary verse, for all to adhere.
