Coming out of the cave it's still dark outside and there is no light out but the light of my headlights. Which is weird “I could of swore I saw light coming into the cave before we got out here.” Making the left turn and now I can see things are starting to turn more into a hilly or almost mountains all around me and a single one lane dirt road going into the mountains further away from us. “I know just keep following this road and just be careful about the cliff's edges as we get higher up in the mountains it gets really steep and almost straight down at some points. Just be careful they are scary looking and even more, they are easy to slide off the edge. There is no guard rails or anything like that up there.” I look over at her and smirk and take a small sip of my pop. “So you mean there is no way to stop us if we started sliding and pretty much the farther we go up the more likely we are to run into slippery roads anyways and now there's nothing to stop the car if we start sliding. This is going to be interesting.” She mouths the words sorry. And then turns back out the passenger window. “Okay now you can't get quite on me, remember I still have questions we never got the chance to discuss back at the house. By the way what the hell was that. I mean they sounded way to big to simply be rabid dogs or something like that. And the way the light of the other vehicles was further away from where those things we're attacking us. Not only that but the headlights we're coming from more than one vehicle and I think they sent those things or unleashed them onto us or something like that. I have a feeling that it wasn't just on accident. I mean they where close enough to hear when there done and far enough away they don't get seen as food too.” She turns and looks at me. “What if I told you those are what we call hunters. And yes those things which are half wolf and once was human. The hunters do that too the ones they can't sell or trade off they make them into their own sick hunting pack. Then they use them to hunt anything that moves cause in this world there is always someone who will buy anything.” My face goes blank and I look back out the windshield and keep looking over to her in silence. We drive this way for quite awhile till the car slipped the first time then we both started laughing at the idea of almost going off the edge. “Okay that was a little close, if ya don't mind let's not do that again we night not be that lucky again.” She gives out a giggle and smiles as she turns and looks out the side mirror. She gasps. “umm look back there I think they are following us up here. And this is a one way road so if we run into someone coming down there isn't anywhere to go. If you can go any faster please do. They do look like there still a bit back there and they are coming uphill where we have already been.” “ That's it” I almost yelled. And stopped the car. “Quick hand me that little brown bag right there. Yeah that one.” She's grabbing the red bag first then grabs the brown one and as she starts to lift it she hesitate for a second. “what is in here?” As she hands the bag too me. “These are clay-more mines, the kind the governments used to use in war times. Just thought they might come in handy and here it is a great idea, for you and I we now have the perfect use for these. I'm going to make sure they don't follow us and at the least, it will slow them down long enough to disarm this. But I plan to put another further up the road as well as this one. I brought four but I'm not about to us all of them at once. I brought them to secure a campsite and planned on using them for monitoring the perimeter as I was sleeping. But this will work better and I can still save two of them and use them for that.” After saying that I get out of the car and go to the rocky side of the road. Then running the trip line across the road she comes over to me. “Can I help in any way?” I look up at her and give a smile. “Tell ya what it's done but here, this is the remote for this one your going to have to watch backwards and wait till they get next to it and hit it. If you miss the hit and they trip the wire it will go off. And you want to wait for the mass of the group to be right next to it so we can lower the numbers they have and maybe even just enough to give up chasing us for right now. At least long enough for us to get away and out of sight from them. At least that's my idea anyway.” She smiles and takes the remote and get's in the car. I look down the road and it seems they somehow made it twice as far while I wasn't watching. But how the fuck, did they do that. As I put the car back into gear I turn to Sirloc, “Say how many tunnels are running thru these hills and the cliffs as well? I mean is there a part we could use to get away faster or even just hide in till they pass and then head back down. Is there anything like that around up here?” She looks at me with a blank look and sadly shakes her head. I flip a switch and turn off the taillights that way they can't tell when I break or back up. “Well then, where does this road lead too?” She turns and looks at me, then slowly looks downward. “This is going to sound weird, but I have never followed this road for it's entirety I always only go as far as this little town up further. But I don't know what is going to be left of it. Last time I was up there I didn't see anyone or any signs that people we're even alive up there.” She looks up and looks me in the eye. Just as I make eye contact with her I start to feel the car slide to one side, toward the wall of rocks along the side of us. “Oh shit, we're sliding, you might want to hang on to something it feels like all the tires broke loose and the brakes aren't catching!” Starting to figure out that we're headed back towards them I am tapping the brakes and trying to get them to catch. About the time I can start feeling a sort of panic setting in the car comes to a stop. As I look at her we both start laughing. “Let's not do that again shall we, we might not get lucky on the third time.” She stops laughing and looks at me with a panic in her eyes. “Umm Mat I don't want to make you mad or panic. But look behind us” I turn and look out my driver side mirror. To my horror there almost right on top of us. I can see there headlights but they haven't seen us yet. I can tell by the way there still scanning the area with spotlights looking for us. Putting it in gear I start forward and to my frustration the car is sliding again. I then start going side to side and it actually works we are moving up hill now. But not as fast as they are. Looking up ahead of us trying to see where we lost it this last time. I see a real dark area along the wall and the closer I get the more it's starting to look like a cave. Then as we pull up next to it I slow to a stop. “Thought you said there wasn't any other caves or any kind of tunnels?” She looks at it and then at me, she then shrugs, “Really I never seen that when I was coming up here, and I have been coming up this way most of my life. If it was there I would of explored it a long time ago.” She looks back down hill. “Personally I really don't think we have much of a choice right now so I'm gonnaa take it and let's see what happens. By the way grab the pistols out of the back seat and load the rifles please. This could get interesting at the minimum.” As we enter the cave a single little light appears about ten feet in front of us. A hand appears in front of the light and it's waving us inward. I keep moving forward till the hand holds it upward palm toward us. Seeing this I stop and behind us we can hear what sounds like large metal grinding against another piece of metal or rock. As the sounds starts to pick up speed the opening is closing behind us from the ceiling. As it turns out it's a door that blocks out everything outside. As the light snuffs out from the headlights even closer now. Everything goes dark. We sit in silence and to make it even easier to hear I turn the car off. All you can hear is the slow drip of water from somewhere kind of far away. As we are looking around us from side to side I am starting to pull out my flashlight out of the center console. When the entire place lights up, there is a line of lights running right along the ceiling running further down the tunnel. Off to the sides there is two rows on either side maybe four feet off the ground running parallel to each other along the walls going further into the tunnel. Then a shape steps out of a side are that is well lit but the shape is dark. Racking a round into the chamber or the pistol the shape puts out arms and shows empty hands. Sirloc and I lock eyes for a second and I slide her the pistol. I grab the other one and chamber another round. We both step out of the car. As we do it raises it's arms toward it head then bends the arms and sort of slowly grabs it's head area. With a slow smooth motion it slide the hood back revealing another person. We all stand in a sort of awkward silence. Then I put the pistol in my belt line, “can I ask what your name is? Along with a very big thank you for savign our lives I'm sure is what they wanted with us.” She's takes the robe off and drapes it over one arm. “My name is Taryn and this is my little part of this world. As you can guess I really don't like the outside world so much.” Sirloc steps forward still holding her pistol in her left hand and still has the hammer cocked back. “So how long have you been in here?” She steps even closer to Taryn and is almost within arms reach of her at this point. “I've been here for about six years now. I found this cave awhile ago and with what my father taught me about mechanic's I built a door for the cave so I could hide. I then started putting the lighting in when the town up the mountain went ghostly. I mean everyone left. One day I went up there to see if they had things to trade or to buy and when I got there. Everyone had left but one person who was packing his things as quick as he could from what it looked like. I tried to ask why everyone left but he looked at me in horror and left screaming something about the dark can talk and can posses you. Or something along those lines it was kind of hard to make out when he was talking in the direction he was going.” She takes a step back away from Sirloc and looks at me with this look of please get your girl kind of thing. “If you two would like I can show you to another way out to get you away from the hunters and give you a day or two head start. Even they know that the next few miles up the road are the worst part of the whole journey. They loose trucks and sometimes people up here when it's the rainy season. But normally their not up this far unless they have a really good reason to be up here. Makes me wonder what you two must of done to get there attention, and more than that get them to either hate you or want you. Either one is a death sentence.” As she is saying this Sirloc puts her pistol in her belt and looks me in the eye. As she turns to try and speak we all hear a loud bang and it shakes enough of the mountain that dust falls from the ceiling. “That would be the mine I placed a little ways back. I didn't think they would keep coming when we just disappeared on them but they hit the trip wire. That should slow them down at the least, but if we're lucky it might of killed a couple of them.” Taryn looks at me, and start's to shake her heard. “You have no idea what you just did do you, damn you just declared war on them and they live for war. You said to them that they are not shit and you are better than them. That's what they look for is people that will try and stand up to them. If they don't kill and eat you then they make you into one of there pet hunting dogs. That' worse than death. There now going to send one person back and get the whole lot of them and there going to tear this mountain apart looking for someone they can blame that on now. You just start a fucking war and made life even harder for those of us who actually do still live up here, and we live up here to stay out of shit and try to stay a bit safer. Thank you for that part going to shit.” Sirloc looks at her and goes to put her hand on her pistol. I jump to her side. “Thank you for saving us but in light of what just happened it might be safer if you show us that way out now. I mean if what you said is true than we are compelled to leave in a sort of hurry and as oon as we can.” Taryn looks at her then looks up at me. “I don't think you understand what is going to happen next. Even if I show you that way out and try to close up and wait it all out it's not going to work. Because I let you in here there going to find the tracks and they WILL find a way in thru that door at some point. When they do make it thru that door...well I can only defend myself so much and with how many of them there really is. Well I would be better just slitting my wrist's after letting you out, then I would just leave the door open after that and hope I get lucky enough to be dead when they find me. No when I open that door I have to leave as well I think I'll go further up the mountain and see if I can find another place to make my home.” Sirloc lowers her hand and walks to her she then wraps her arms around her and leans on her shoulder. “You have to come with us.” She looks at me, “Well you are the one who planted the bomb in the first place and you have to be responsible for your own actions.” Smiling at me she let's go of Taryn and goes to the car. “You can sit in the front for now just help us and we will help you at this point I don't think any of us have a choice.” Sighing I nod my head and walk to the car. “Look Taryn I'm sorry for that but I promise if you stay with us I will do everything I can to keep all of us alive for as long as I can possibly control it. That's what I have to offer or you can open that door and run away and leave fate to have her fill. I now leave it up too you.”
