Chapter 5 : The Blood Memory Corridor

Saint Somabra - Hallway J7 (North Staff Wing) - February 5th, 1985 - 3:33 AM

Incident Report: Biohazard Emergency #R-118-B

Filed by: Custodian Supervisor Wendell Minks

“Walls don’t remember.

Unless they’re made of things that do.”

A HALLWAY THAT BEGAN TO BLEED

At exactly 3:33 AM, the temperature in hallway J7 dropped to 4°C. The condensation alarms triggered first ... then the infrared body heat sensors activated in an empty hallway.

That’s when the first blood droplets appeared.

Not oozing from a pipe.

Not dripping from the ceiling.

But seeping directly through the paint, forming words.

Each drop formed a Latin glyph.

Each glyph matched entries found inside Emily Roan’s intestines during autopsy.

Saint Somabra’s walls began whispering in blood

The phrase:

“Sanguinem audit nomen.”

(The blood hears the name.)

BLOOD TEST RESULTS

The blood was sampled.

It wasn’t synthetic.

It wasn’t human.

It was classified as Type X-B Negative ... a blood type not catalogued in any international database.

Genetic sequencing revealed identifiers from three different patients:

• Emily Roan (deceased)

• Jonah Elswick (Patient 67B)

• And a fourth donor with no existing hospital record

The corridor was sealed.

Two staff members who entered without PPE suffered auditory hallucinations for 36 hours, reporting hearing a fetus laughing in the walls.

INTRODUCING: PATIENT 72M - MAE RINZ

A 14-year-old girl was admitted the same day.

Found walking barefoot in the woods 12 miles from Saint Somabra, her shirt covered in dirt and infant teeth ... none her own.

She refused to speak ... until she fell asleep.

In her first night of REM sleep, she whispered in the voice of Nurse Leila Cohen, who had gone missing since Emily’s autopsy.

Mae dreamed in a voice that no longer had a body

The whisper:

“The womb doesn’t remember who she was.

Only who she held.”

She recited nineteen hospital staff names.

Twelve of them were dead.

MEMORY AS LOCATION

Mae’s second dream was monitored using neural echo-imaging.

Instead of common neural firing, her brain mapped a blueprint.

Specifically: a 3D spatial rendering of Hallway J7 - before the hospital wing had been built.

In the neural image:

• The hallway was made of flesh.

• Instead of doorways, there were mouths.

• Every corner held a cradle with red cloth.

Her dreams mapped places not yet built

And over each cradle: a suspended piece of bone carved with a different word:

“Name. Name. Name. Name.”

THE WHISPER ON LOOP

An automatic floor scrubber that passed through the corridor after lockdown recorded audio on its maintenance cam:

[Sound Transcript: File ST-J7-Loop]

“SHE LEFT THROUGH THE NAME.

SHE IS A CAVITY NOW.

AND YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN INSIDE HER.”

CHAPTER 5 ENDS WITH:

Patient Mae Rinz awakes and calmly asks for a priest made of teeth.

Then, with no previous medical training, she grabs the neuro-imager off the table and begins drawing her own chest cavity on the screen .. except the heart is missing.

Her chest held no heart. Only memory written in bone

Instead, there's a phrase in her own ribcage:

“Fiat ossis lumen.”

(Let bone become light.)

And the screen goes black.

Chapter 6 : The Mirror Doesn’t Reflect Who’s Looking

Saint Somabra - Staff Restroom 2B / Mirror Archives (Secure Room V5) – February 6th, 1985 - 2:44 AM

Filed as: Visual Contamination Incident #MI-V2

Filed by: Orderly Kym Valens

“She’s not alive.

But she still clocks in.”

MIRROR EVENT #001 - NURSE COHEN’S REFLECTION

Nurse Leila Cohen was declared missing 12 days ago.

However, at 2:44 AM, multiple staff confirmed seeing her reflected in the 2nd-floor break room mirror.

But not in the room.

The mirror showed her brushing her hair .. wearing her staff uniform from 1981 .. with a mouth stitched closed and her name tag burned in reverse.

Kym Valens was present. He took a polaroid.

The mirror did not show his own reflection.

Only hers.

THE POLAROID - ANOMALY REPORT

Upon review, the polaroid did not develop until 33 minutes after exposure .. not instant.

The photo showed a door that shouldn’t exist

When it finally rendered:

• Cohen’s body was blurry.

• Her eyes were missing, replaced with the word “OPEN” carved into her sockets.

• The photo smelled faintly of old bandages.

Behind her, visible only in the polaroid: a door that doesn’t exist in that room.

Etched above it: “BONE ENTRY.”

THE MIRROR ARCHIVES

Saint Somabra maintains a locked sub-basement: Mirror Archives (Secure Room V5).

Inside are 22 recorded “Mirror Events” spanning decades, stored as analog reels:

• All feature reflections of people no longer on staff.

• All reflect different architecture than the real rooms.

• None show the person holding the camera.

The reel from February 6th .. now labeled Event #23 ... is corrupted after 12 seconds.

But a transcript survives:

“I didn’t leave.

I fell behind the mirror.

Now I’m the side that watches.”

EMILY’S REFLECTION NEVER MOVED

Analysis of historical mirror footage from Emily’s old room showed this:

From October 22nd to November 5th, her mirror reflection never blinked.

It also never synchronized with her body movements.

In some frames, the mirror Emily:

• Reaches for objects Emily never touched

• Wears her hospital gown inside-out

• Smiles while real Emily cries

Dr. Voss paused the footage at 3:33 AM on October 28th and zoomed in on the mirror.

She found Nurse Cohen’s face inside the mirror’s background ... weeks before her disappearance.

THE SLEEPWALKING REFLECTED

Jonah Elswick, still recovering in Echo Ward, sleepwalked into Restroom 2B at 3:01 AM.

Security footage shows him:

• Entering the restroom

• Standing in front of the mirror

• Smiling directly at it

His mouth doesn’t move. But the mirror version of Jonah does.

It whispers:

“I don’t know how long I’ve been in here.

But I’ve always had her memories.

You should go. Before she wakes up.”

CHAPTER 6 ENDS WITH:

Nurse Cohen’s employee ID badge was found in Restroom 2B.

Her badge scanned in. But her body never left the mirror

It had no dust.

It still scanned.

It logged her in at 2:44 AM.

Even though she was declared missing.

Inside her locker was a note. Only visible when held up to a mirror.

It read:

“I said I’d watch her.

And now I can’t stop.”

Chapter 7 : The Choir With Her Voice

Saint Somabra - Choral Sub-Basement (Sealed Wing Below Crematorium) - February 7th, 1985 - 1:06 AM

Filed as: Unpermitted Entry Incident - Subterranean Audio Contamination

Submitted by: Security Technician Lowell Vane (later institutionalized)

“It wasn’t the number of voices.

It was that they were all hers.”

THE BASEMENT THAT SHOULDN’T EXIST

Beneath the cremation furnace, there exists an unauthorized architectural anomaly:

• A long, bone-white corridor

• No ventilation

• No lighting system

• No inclusion in any original hospital blueprints

Security Technician Lowell Vane discovered it after an alarm on the furnace triggered for “mass smoke displacement” despite no active cremation.

When he entered the furnace maintenance hatch, he found a spiral staircase descending into a curved limestone tunnel.

Beneath the fire, memory built a choir

At the base:

A single wooden door.

Carved into it, dozens of overlapping phrases ... all identical .. burned deep into the surface with differing handwriting:

A door no one built remembers the voices it sealed inside

“Please help me I remember now”

AUDIO FROM THE SEALED ROOM

Vane entered. His body cam recorded no visual, only static.

But the audio captured this:

31 overlapping female voices.

All speaking in perfect choral harmony.

All using Emily Roan’s larynx print (confirmed via spectrogram).

All saying different phrases .. but simultaneously.

Some included:

• “I forgot what I was before her.”

• “He kissed my skull before I was born.”

• “I am Emily, but not only.”

A faint metallic rhythm echoed beneath their words .. not quite heartbeat, not quite breathing.

Like a ribcage trying to speak.

THE FURNACE REMEMBERS

At the same time Vane descended, the hospital cremation furnace ignited on its own.

It produced:

• No heat

• No fire

• But began exhaling a black mist that tasted metallic and made nearby staff feel “pregnant with someone else's thoughts.”

The furnace doesn’t burn. It remembers in vapor

The mist left residue on metal, which when heated, produced a musical note:

• F Minor, sustained

• Looping every 19 seconds

• Sound signature matched the final heartbeat of Jonah’s mother, who died 16 years earlier

THE NAMELESS BONE

Inside the choral chamber, Lowell Vane found a pedestal.

Upon it, a femur bone, split open.

Inside the split:

• Micro-etchings of names

• None legible

• Except one: “EML-9T”

A match for Emily Roan’s hospital intake code.

Her name wasn’t written. It was carved into marrow

As Vane touched the bone, every voice stopped.

In unison, a single voice said:

“She gave us her voice so we wouldn’t remember our own.

Now the god remembers us instead.”

Then silence.

Vane collapsed, bleeding from ears.

His stethoscope melted.

His badge dissolved into the bone.

He was later found repeating:

“They were unborn. But not unloved.”

CHAPTER 7 ENDS WITH:

In the surveillance review, the hallway behind Vane reconstructs itself backwards .. not crumbling, but “unbuilding.”

At 1:19 AM, the footage halts on a frame showing Emily, walking away down the hall.

She returned to the place that birthed her name

Her back turned.

Her mouth open.

But instead of a scream, the subtitle system on the hospital feed auto-generates a line of text in Latin:

“Dico pro illis. Ego sum nomen nunc.”

(I speak for them. I am the name now.)

Then the hallway is gone.

No one has found the stairwell since.

Season Finale

Chapter 8: The Birth Ledger

Saint Somabra – Hall of Archives (Sealed Level C) - February 7th, 1985 .. 3:33 AM

Filed as: Incident Report - Temporal Archive Breach

Submitted by: Surveillance Auditor Miriam Wakes (currently missing)

“You are born once. Then you’re written again.

But only the second time, something watches the ink.”

📖 THE HIDDEN RECORDS ROOM

At the bottom of Sealed Level C, a hallway that was once part of the original maternity wing (pre-1912) leads to a double-locked archival vault.

It contains:

• Every birth ledger entry since Saint Somabra's founding

• Microfiche with umbilical cord barcoding signatures

• Recordings of infant cries indexed by frequency of maternal weeping

The vault was locked until 3:33 AM — when the door reportedly opened on its own, and surveillance systems looped 7 seconds of footage indefinitely.

What entered the room was not captured.

Every erased birth made her more real

What left was a black-robed child, humming Emily Roan’s first lullaby, backward.

📜 LORNE’S FORBIDDEN JOURNAL

Recovered from behind the central ledger was a sealed envelope marked:

“DO NOT OPEN UNLESS HER NAME IS SPOKEN”

Inside: the final journal entries of Dr. Edwin Lorne (Emily’s deliverer, later self-exiled).

Key excerpts:

“She wasn’t a child. She was a re-casting.”

“Born from the pages of another girl’s grief, not from womb or world.”

“We lied when we wrote her down.”

“The god she carries doesn’t feed. It edits.”

“Every mother who cries in this hospital gives it ink.”

EDITING THE LIVING

As the journal was opened, the hospital experienced:

• Simultaneous stillbirth in four delivery rooms

• Birth records auto-updating: Four babies now listed as “Never Scheduled”

• Surveillance shows the mothers staring at cribs that no longer exist

When confronted, the mothers recited the same phrase, monotone:

“I was never here. But she cried for me.”

THE REDACTED GIRL

Surveillance in Archive Vault Room captured a floating ledger, its pages turning on their own.

On Page 1903:

• Name: Amelia Grith (original occupant of Room 329)

• Status: Born. Died. Forgotten.

• Notes section: Crossed out with a substance that absorbs ink

As ink disappeared, a new name appeared:

Emily Roan

It wasn’t added.

It replaced Amelia’s.

Then one by one, other names faded ... as if their births had been absorbed.

Emily’s grew larger on the page.

Until it cracked the paper.

🪞 MIRROR ANOMALY - THE CRIB ROOM

Simultaneously, the east mirror in the Crib Observation Room shattered inwards, revealing:

• A perfect copy of the nursery, inverted

• Cribs filled with still infants who all had Emily’s face at varying ages

• At the center: an adult-sized cradle, swaying gently

She reached in to comfort a child. She never came back

A nurse approached it.

She disappeared.

Her reflection did not.

The mirror resealed behind her.

✉️ THE FINAL MESSAGE

Security Technician Lowell Vane (from Chapter 7) briefly awoke from catatonia.

He wrote one sentence in his own blood before relapsing:

“It didn’t want her alive. It wanted her born again in every crib.”

CHAPTER 8 ENDS WITH:

Security logs show an entry under:

“Patient Arrival: Roan, Emily (Variant 6)”

Timestamp: February 7th, 1985 ... 3:36 AM

.. Only minutes after Emily Variant 5 vanished.

All nurses present began bleeding from the eyes, but reported "feeling joy" as if they had just delivered a healthy child.
