Real Unexplained Paranormal Events in Chinese Folklore - Part Ten
The Unusual Events I Have Encountered

The grandmother told a story:
She said there were two people working in the fields together. During noon, one of them fell asleep, and the person who stayed awake saw a small figure emerging from the head of the sleeping person. It walked along a small piece of grass towards a small puddle of water. The awake person was curious, so they took away the small piece of grass. They noticed that the person who was sleeping had broken into a sweat and their face had changed color. Feeling afraid, the awake person quickly put the grass back, and the small figure walked back along the grass and returned to the sleeping person. When the sleeping person woke up, they were asked about their dream. They said they had crossed a large bridge but when they tried to return, the bridge had disappeared, and they were almost in a panic.
As for my own experience, I remember it very clearly even though I was very young, around five years old. One summer evening, there were four of us sleeping in one room: my parents in one bed, and my sister and I on a sofa next to it. Our sofa faced the door, meaning our feet were pointed towards the door. Here's how the story begins: I woke up in the middle of the night, and subconsciously looked around at the people. They were all sleeping soundly. When I was about to turn around to go back to sleep, I noticed there was someone at the door. I was very young and didn't understand much, but I was curious about who this person was and what they were doing here so late at night. I stared at them, and they seemed to be looking back at me. I didn't know for sure because I couldn't see their face clearly. Suddenly, I noticed some movement at the hem of their robe, and they were slowly moving towards me. I remember thinking that this person walked strangely and differently from others. They were all in white, and their hands were suspended in the air, slowly approaching me. At that point, I started to feel scared. I realized that my sister was still sleeping next to me, so I tried to wake her up by shaking her. Unfortunately, she was fast asleep and wouldn't wake up no matter how hard I shook her. I also realized that I was crying by this point. That's when my mom woke up, turned on the light, and thought that I had just had a nightmare. She came over, hugged me, and took me to their bed (my sister was still sound asleep). After they turned off the lights and we all settled in bed, I noticed that the figure had disappeared.
There's another story from my childhood. I used to have recurring nightmares, similar to the one I just described. I would have the same dream over and over again, almost several times a week. However, I couldn't quite grasp the content of the dream; I just felt scared. Every time, I would wake up crying. I used to sleep with my grandmother, and one night, after having the same nightmare, I woke up crying as usual. My grandmother tried to comfort me, and as I was crying, I suddenly saw a face on top of the big yellow wardrobe beside my bed. It was just a face with very large, upward-pointing, and sharp white eyes, and its mouth had a sinister, creepy smile (with its lips curled upward). I was terrified, crying continuously. My grandmother brought me a glass of water, and after I took a sip and looked back, it had disappeared! I am certain it was real, not an illusion!
