Pretty Teeth

Be careful who you decide to talk to. Especially at night.

"Go ahead, tell them the story! You guys have to hear this!"

"Oh fine, but this is the last time! I don't know why you're so obsessed with it."

I can't remember when exactly this happened; but what I can remember is that it was hot, late, and I was hungry.

I was heading home from a place that I used to visit all the time for a little bit of fun. Pool, drinks, and the like. I had stayed a little later than I usually did but not really late enough for anybody to really be worried about me. About halfway home as I'm in one of the quieter parts of town I heard someone off to my side,

"Y'know, you'd be a lot prettier if you smiled for me. Give me some time and I can one out of ya"

I, of course being a little taken off guard by this, didn't know what to say at first. But then it came to me, I stepped close and played it off all cute.

"Maybe I'll take you up on that offer, but I won't make it easy for you. You have to really earn it if all you want is smile."

He got a little closer and gave me a devious little grin. I knew what was on his mind, and I knew I could take advantage of that.

"I think I know just the thing, come with me."

I followed him close behind, being sure to keep up the sweet and innocent act. He lead me to what I could only assume to be his car. It was actually fairly nice for the kind of man he was. We got in and he locked the doors, they always lock the doors. At that moment I gave him what he wanted, a nice wide smile, fangs and all.

"Now, how about we head back to my... Huh? Your teeth are awfully..."

This part was always my favorite. I could see him process what was happening. The doubt, the disbelief, and the confusion all faded away as his thoughts raced. And as soon as he pieced it together I leaned in and gently put my hand on his and said,

"Exactly what you think I am, honey. A pretty face with an even prettier set of teeth. Now how about that fun you were talking about, hm?"

Oh the panic on his face was beautiful, and the speed in which he bolted out of the car rivaled my own. I could hear his heart racing, that only made things better.

"What's wrong, honey? Don't you know it's rude to stick someone up?"

He wasn't as entertained by that as I was. But to be fair, he was running for his life. And I let him run, and run, and run until I thought his head start was fair enough.

"Let's see if you're as fast as you are charming," I remember thinking to myself.

And to my surprise he was quite fast for a human, clever too. But it didn't matter, I had his scent. The chase was on and I immediately took to the rooves.

It took me a moment to catch up because he took every alley he knew of, the dumpsters almost masked his smell. But as soon as I got him in sight, he wasn't losing me again.

I could tell he knew these alleyways, he avoided every dead end he could've possibly taken. It was at about this point that I felt I should end this before he gets to other people.

I saw where he was going and cut him off. He turned the corner and you should've saw his face when he ran in to me. I've never seen a human drop and pray faster in my life.

I almost felt bad for him. Almost, not quite. But that doesn't matter. I got nice and close and whispered in his ear.

"Don't be scared. Just think, you did what you wanted to. You earned a smile."
