FARGO NORTH DAKOTA
our Patron Melissa lives in Fargo North Dakota a city founded in 1871 and named after William G Fargo a director of the Northern Pacific railroad and co-founder of the Wells Fargo Express company back in the day Fargo was a Rough and Ready Frontier Town but today is known for its Arts entertainment and eating establishments but like most places it has a creepy side and first we look at one of its most haunted buildings the children's museum at younger Farm the red brick Farmhouse located on younger Farm looks pretty unremarkable and could easily be any family farmhouse however taking a closer look at it you will find that it is actually one of Fargo's most haunted houses the property was originally built in 1876 for a farmer named Newton Whitman and his family which included his wife and eight children once the build was complete however Newton was left with an abundance of unused bricks so he decided to donate them to the local community who in turn asked to build a school on the property next to Newton's farmhouse he agreed in 1905 the home was purchased by John and Elizabeth juncker who raised their 10 children within its walls once John Younkers died his wife continued to run the farm and eventually the couple's children took over the daily duties in 1968 the property was sold by the Yonkers and was eventually donated to the Fargo Park District which decided to turn the building intoNa children's museum it opened in 1989 and included exhibits such as a planetarium and Puppet Theater over the years there has been a steady flow of people reporting to have seen manifestations inside the building one of the most prominent of these ghosts is a woman thought to be Elizabeth younger her spirit visits the museum frequently and it's been speculated that she appears so often because she iS Overjoyed that her home has become a place of fun and laughed over children as she loved children when she was alive this spirit is known to spend much of her time upstairs with smaller children play and participated in activities when Elizabeth is present the doors and windows in The Farmhouse tend to open and close on their own and the elevator buttons are pushed without prompting by unseen hands the lift often goes up and down without anyone interacting with it staff have even reported that when they are alone after the children have gone home they feel a friendly presence in their midst another notable spirit said to still haunt the museum is that of a little girl who is alleged to have drowned in a well according to Urban Legend a ghost hunter claimed to have once seen the child in broad daylight near a well and shortly afterwards he felt pain in his chest and was unable to breathe as if he was drowning he felt that this child was communicating with him about how she died no paranormal investigations have ever taken place inside the museum as the staff do not want to Garner a reputation which may harm the business by scaring away the children sadly however the museum announced its closure in 2021. after struggling financially as a result of the pandemic while the museum is closed the building is expected to be transformed into another attraction in the near future so we're excited to see what that will be now from Haunted Museum we'll move to a haunted Park a children's playground is not the obvious place to find ghosts unless of course it's built on a former trollwood Park in Fargo is the site of a former County Hospital and Asylum that was built in 1895 for people who couldn't afford a regular Hospital sadly when patients or workers died at the hospital they were often not a formerly proper funeral and were buried in unmarked or poorly made Graves within the hospital grounds later the hospital became a nursing home called Golden Acres until it was eventually shut down in 1973 when the land was developed into the park it is today over 300 coffins were moved however it's believed that there are many more that were not located this 28-acre park now has two playgrounds and a range of other recreational activities along with a few disgruntled spirits one of the most notorious and prominent Spirits is that of a woman dressed in a blue dress who dances around a large willow tree ironically the tree is located right next to a stone that was placed to mark one of the cemeteries over the years multiple paranormal groups have investigated the area and do consider it to be haunted supposedly experiencing the feeling of being followed and hearing disembodied voices Melissa we'd love to know if you've ever been to the park and experienced anything strange and if not we'd love you to go there and check it out then let us know if you feel anything paranormal going on.
FLORENCE ALABAMA
Florence Alabama is located about sixmiles from the birthplace of HelenKeller the celebrated author anddisability activist who overcome herhearing and sight loss to become thefirst deaf-blind person to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree it's also the hometown of our much value Patriot Avery and for you Avery we will first look at the strange disappearance of Dora Smith Dora Smith was 47 years old when she was last seen leaving her home in the 400 block of weekly Street in Florence Alabama on April 24 1977 at the time she was wearing only a nightgown and left behind her purse house keys and dentures she didn't even take her ID or a change of clothes with her and she has been missing ever since at the time of her disappearance Dora was living with her husband Wilbur a decorated World War II veteran who survived Pearl Harbor the couple had three children together he claimed to have seen Dora enter a lime green Ford LTD that night however it was not Wilbur Who filed a missing person's report for his wife it was their son who grew concerned when he didn't hear from her in several daysdespite her disappearance being reported quite early on no progress was made in the case in late 2002 a bizarre Discovery was made when the new owner of the house with Dora had lived at the time of a disappearance found a letter in the bedroom along with 200 in cash between two pieces of wood at the top of the closet although according to the Charlie project the letter and cash were hidden beneath the bedroom's wallpaper the latter had allegedly been signed by Dora and read they are trying to take my food away and kill me please help me reportedly the police never saw this letter for themselves making it difficult to authenticate following the discovery of the letter scent dogs were brought in to assist in the search for what authorities believed for Dora's remains the canines alerted their handlers to the shed in the back Garden investigators quickly received a search warrant and returned any few days to dig up the flooring of the shed which was attached to the garage neighbors were reportedly not surprised by this new development remembering that Dora never had much to say and pretty much stayed to herself and that nobody believed that she would have gotten into a strange car in the middle of the night nobody believed she'd left in the middle of the night full stop and several believed she was likely dead somewhere in the neighborhood after spending much of the day digging however police fail to find a body while one of the four dogs continue to react to the shed and began digging through the Earth law enforcement was unable to locate human remains stating we can't say she's there nor can we say that she's not it would take someone coming in with a bulldozer and a backhoe to dig down far enough to know for sure notably Dora's husband remarried five years after her disappearance he tied the knot with a neighbor whose husband died five months after Dora went missing they remained together for 13 years until his death in 1995. Dora's case is still unsolved she is described as a white female with gray hair and was 47 years old when she vanished from her home in the 400 block of weekly Street on April 24 1977 in the unlikely event that anyone has information on Dora's disappearance they can call the Florence Police Department using the number on screen from the sad case of Dora we'll move on to a creepy Bridge Jackson Ford Bridge has for many years been nicknamed Ghost Bridge the one-line car Bridge used across Cypress Creek but has long since been abandoned and has fallen into a state of disrepair while it's rumored to be haunted Witnesses have reported a white Mist rising from the creek mixed with strange orbs of light with no Apparent Source it is particularly spooky at night and disembodied footsteps have been heard by those brave enough to Venture near the dilapidated structure it is a popular hangout for una students who have recounted Tales of swinging ropes and unexplained accidents one of the more outlandish reports came from a group who one night decided to visit the bridge on the way there they saw a small car parked nearby when they made their return Journey the same car was in the same spot but was flipped onto its roof it's safe to say they never investigated or went back to the bridge Avery we'd love to know if you've ever heard of the story of Dora Smith or ever got close to Jackson Ford Bridge thank you
SPARTA NORTH CAROLINA
Angie how much value patreon is lucky enough to live in Sparta a small town in Allegheny County North Carolina a place that is known for its stunning Countryside and friendly relaxed way of life its unusual name was proposed in 1866 by James H parks an early businessman to the area who suggested calling the town Sparta after the prominent city-state of Laconia in ancient Greece we must admit Angie we struggle to find anything too creepy in Sparta which is probably a good thing but we did however manage to find a strange Cryptid the Santa also referred to as the Wampus is a bizarre Cryptid whose Origins stemmed from the early Lumberjack tales of the 19th and 20th centuries it is described as having a long body with reddish or sometimes gray hair a bald head and small eyes the Santa also has long legs and a tail which has eight hard knots in it resembling a string of beads which is capable of knocking over other animals it is said to reside in damp wooded swamps have a piercing baby-like whale and is most commonly spotted in Western North Carolina the Santa was first reported on the Landmark on September 4th 1890 when a police officer claimed to have shot at it while it chased a dog its tracks were allegedly seen the following morning and it was known to have eaten seven pigs and 15 cows by this point a hunting party was assembled set on chasing the creature down but no one was able to find it it was not seen or heard from again in the area for some time although once again a trail of its Footprints was found they are described as being eight inches long and four inches wide with its hind prints resembling her bears in various newspapers around the 4th of October 1890 the creature was discussed again a hunter named Abe Harbin heard the Santa it's shrieking warding off his dogs causing the canines to return to his side in fear another man Adam Lentz claimed to catch only a glimpse of it but he stated it wasn't quite as big as a cow in the following days it visited two houses rearing up against the front doors and growling seven years later on March 17 1897 the animal was sighted at Roaring River 45 minutes away from the town of Sparta where it was supposedly consuming the cats which freely roamed the streets on May 5th it was suggested in the press that the animal was a lynx that had escaped from a circus that had been present in the state the previous year by contrast however the alkan times claimed on June 9th that the Santa had been caught and it didn't resemble a cat or a Lynx but instead it appeared similar to a shepherd dog it allegedly ate more Neighborhood Cats as well as dogs before it was captured it's unclear what happened to the Santa after this as there was a reported sighting of it again two years later on May 31 1899 when it was said to have eaten 12 chickens a local woman cited the creature and claimed it was gray in color and between the size of a cat and dog despite supposedly being captured it appeared the creature I was on the prowl again some newspaper reports claimed that Santa was killed after its capture yet there are no reports of there being multiple Sanders at once media accounts of the cryptic continued up until the 1930s one of the last reports of the creature is dated back to May 1934 when the Mooresville news wrote there is considerable excitement around here about the Ferocious wild animal most people who live here about 40 or more years ago are satisfied that this is none other but an offspring of that old Iredell County Center to this very day it's still unclear what exactly people encountered when they believed they were seeing a Santa have you ever heard of this story Angie if so do you have any of your own Tales to tell about this Hunter
FORT LAUDERDALE FLORIDA
Fort Lauderdale is a coastal city located in the U.S state of Florida and is the hometown of our Patron David the city is named after a series of fonts built during the second seminal war that took their name from major William Lauderdale known as the Venice of America Fort Lauderdale has 165 miles of inland waterways across the city and is a great place to visit and with over 50 000 registered yachts and 100 marinas it is also known as the yachting capital of the world for you David we're going to start with the haunted Stranahan House built in 1901 the Stranahan House is the oldest surviving building in Broward County it was built or commissioned to be built by Frank Stranahan and his wife Ivy and the couple were some of the first people to settle on the New River in a community that would later be established as Fort Lauderdale at first the couple flourished in their new home they became wealthy business people until two hurricanes devastated Florida destroying Frank's real estate operations devastated by the failure of his business he attempted to take his own life and eventually during another attempt succeeded Frank's demise is believed to have been just the beginning of a tragedy for the Stranahan House however shortly after Frank's passing a young girl who was part of the seminal tribe came to visit Ivy but she collapsed in the home's doorway and died later Ivy's younger sister pink moved into the house she was heavily pregnant at seven months along and prayed that this time she would successfully give birth to a baby as she had had three miscarriages in the years before however pink discovered that her husband was cheating she went into labor long before the baby was due and suffered a stillborn birth she then died in the hospital herself Ivy's brother Albert died in the home at the contract in tuberculosis shortly before he moved into the house the siblings his father also passed away in the house after Ivy took him in when he became sick and elderly Ivy herself met her demise in her bedroom in 1971 at the age of 90. Min 1984 the house was transformed into a museum after being restored by the Fort Lauderdale Historical Society and it welcomes visitors for guided tours according to local Stories the families still haunt their old hom Frank has been seen tragically reliving his own passing with reports the spirit of a deceased man has been seen jumping into the New River with an iron gate tied to his ankle his Apparition is said to be pleasant until it comes to the homeless when vagrants tried to sleep on The house's Veranda Frank bangs on the windows and chases them from the property meanwhile Ivy is known to be a warm presence staff of the house can often smell their favorite perfume when her spirit is around paranormal investigators have also reported that the girl from the seminal tribe has been contacted over EVP and she is supposedly very friendly she is said to steal sweets from the front desk and leave them in the Attic pink is also seen frequently by visitors to the house often accompanied by two floating orbs of light one of which is believed to be a stillborn baby Albert the brother of pink and Ivy was a wild child and frequent Party Guy during his lifetime as a result he's rather bothersome and difficult as a spirit and is often blamed for knocking things over and banging doors closed he is said to make the room colder for men and warmer for women similarly the sibling's father Augustus is known to knock over books and make his bedroom which is now the gift shop extremely cold he also has a habit of moving items around to annoy the staff the Stranahan House museum is still open to visitors but is generally considered a historic attraction rather than a scary one and there is sadly no option to spendthe night there to test your nerveshave you ever visited David and if sowhat was it likefrom a creepy house we'll move on to aheinous CriminalEddie Lee Mosley was born in FortLauderdale in 1947. he had a troubled childhood and from a young age showed signs of intellectual disability and mental instability as an adult his lack of education and ability to hold down a job turned into crime and as a teenager he was jailed for five and a half years for various crimes after his release in 1971 there was a spat of rapes in and around the Fort Lauderdale area the description of the assailant matched Mosley after his arrest over 40 other victims came forward he also became the prime suspect for the murder of two girls in Fort Lauderdale killed in early 1973. although he was never charged with their murders Mosley was found to be insane and spent the next five years in a mental healthfacilitybut he was later deemed cured and wasreleased into societyover the next seven months Mosley killedseven young girls but before he could beapprehended he moved from Fort Lauderdale to Lakeland where his grandmother lived surely after he arrived two young girlsdisappearedMosley was arrested but not chargedhe then moved back to Fort Lauderdale where he was charged and found guilty of attacking another girl he was sentenced to 15 years he appealed the decisions and was given a lesser sentence of three years when he was released he committed a string of sexual offenses and murders but again was acquitted in May 1987 Mosley was arrested for theft and his DNA was matched to the bodies of several murder victims however he was deemed incompetent to stand trial and instead was shuffled between mental institutions for the rest of his life he murdered at least eight women in Fort Lauderdale and was the prime suspect in several other murders two of which other men were wrongfully convicted for Mosley's true murder count is unknown but is speculated to be at least 16 murders along with hundreds of sexual assaults he died in 2020.
