My bloody valentine (2009) review 1
My review of the remake

Ok so I’m a huge horror fan, ever since I was a kid and I went to see one with my brother, I since have always loved horror movies and also I have always been one to not hesitate to share my options so I wanna give my opinion on the 2009 remake of the slasher film, My bloody valentine.
We start off with our three main characters axel, Tom, and Sarahand others arriving to Hannigar mine (owned by tom’s father) as teens do they go in for a party of sorts but it is interrupted by a killer in a mining suit by the name of Harry Warden, while 2 males try and be alphas it rather hilariously doesn’t work with one man getting brutally B-slapped by a hanging pipe before dying, Axel and Sarah and another girl flee as Tom is picked by Harry and flung into the wall and just as he is about to stab Tom, He is shot by the sheriff and then flees into the mine as top looks on clearly shaken. It then cuts to 10 years were Tom inherits the mine and Axel is the sheriff and Sarah is his love interest which causes a kind of messed up love triangle once Tom returns to town, however right as Tom returns so does the murders.....
Now to start of my review of this movie, the first thing that I like is that they don’t just rehash the old script like a lot of remakes do (like the live action Lion King or what most like the live action Mulan will do) they don’t just get the rights and deliver the same old same old, they put there own touch to it and I really admire that cause if it is just the same old story re-told what’s the point, then why the hell would I wanna see the remake if I could save my money (even more so in these times) and not buy the DVD or spend 50 bucks to see it in theatres, when I could just go on Netflix or find it online for free, NO there has to be some difference even if it’s a minor change, or else what’s the point!!!!!.
Another one of the things I find great about this movie is that they actually got the establishing character moments correct (something that’s really not often done in many movies today, hit and miss Hollywood), now we established pretty well that Tom is the kind of guy to run away from his problems instead of facing them head on, Sarah is headstrong but won’t outright abandon those she cares about unless she sees a reason to (even in the start it was axel and fear that made her leave Tom), and axel.. well he’s a HUGE dick.
But perhaps my MOST favorite thing about this movie was the twist ending, Tom is Harry warden. Ok so now let me explain, throughout the movie we are led to believe that Harry warden is back and is the killer, and while also we are led to cast some doubt on Tom to think that maybe he had some role, maybe he is an accomplice to warden or maybe it’s just circumstance that the killer returned right when Tom did (another thing I truly love that it plays on the audiences “what if, maybe” aspect of that towards Tom perfectly) in the end we find out that Tom actually is Harry warden, now this doesn’t mean Harry Warden is not the main killer cause... in a way he is, but he is just a construct of Tom’s broken mind and then we see flashbacks that it was Tom who did all the killing and had some sort of dissociation and imagined that Warden was there, and this flashback sequence actually was shot and explained so well (another thing many movies that take this route get wrong) and honestly the flashbacks go into AMAZING depth to explains tom’s fractured mental state very well.
Honestly overall I would give this movie a 10 out of 10 rating and I would recommend that anyone who hasn’t seen this movie go and see this movie somehow, you to will agree with me that this is an amazing gore fest of a slasher movie.
