Mortimer the Malevolent Morsel

The twisted Gingerbread.

By ZionPublished 2 years ago 3 min read

In the quiet town of Sugarville, nestled between rolling hills and frosted forests, stood a bakery known far and wide for its delicious delights. Mrs. Puddingworth's Bakery was renowned for its gingerbread treats, especially the infamous gingerbread men.

However, hiding behind the sugary façade was a tale darker than the deepest chocolate. Legend whispered of a gingerbread man crafted not from love and laughter but from malice and madness. His name was Mortimer, the malevolent morsel.

Mortimer was no ordinary cookie. Baked on a moonless night under a cursed recipe, he emerged from the oven with a sinister gleam in his currant eyes. His sugary smile concealed a hunger not for sweet frosting but for something far more sinister: fear.

With each bite he took, Mortimer grew stronger, his twisted desires fueling his insatiable appetite. He roamed the streets of Sugarville under the cover of darkness, leaving a trail of crumbs, blood, and terror in his wake.

His first victim was old Mrs. Pennyapple, a kindly widow known for her delicious pies. She never stood a chance as Mortimer crept into her kitchen, his sugary scent masking his malevolent intent. With a swift strike of his icing-coated claws, he silenced her forever, leaving blood stains all over the kitchen walls.

Next was young Adam, the baker's apprentice, with dreams of crafting confections as legendary as Mrs. Puddingworth's. Mortimer found him alone in the bakery at night, his innocence a stark contrast to the darkness that consumed the gingerbread man. As Mortimer used the bakery knife to cut young Adams flesh bit by bit, young Adams screams echoed through the empty streets, unheard by anyone but the malevolent morsel.

As the town cowered in fear, whispers of the gingerbread man's reign of terror spread like wildfire. Mothers held their children close, fearing that Mortimer would come for them next. The once-bustling streets of Sugarville fell silent, the aroma of freshly baked goods tainted by the thick stench of fear and terror.

But amidst the chaos, hope flickered like a candle in the darkness. A brave young girl named Susan, armed with nothing but her wits and a sprinkle of courage, swore to put an end to Mortimer's reign of terror.

With the help of her loyal dog, Rusco, Susan embarked on a dangerous journey to confront the malevolent morsel. Through dark forests and dangerous terrain, they tracked Mortimer to his lair, a forgotten corner of the bakery where the thick scent of death hung heavy in the air.

As Mortimer lunged towards Susan, his claws dripping with the blood of his victims, she stood her ground, her eyes filled with determination. In a swift instance, she flung a jar of molasses at the gingerbread man, ensnaring him in its sticky embrace.

With a triumphant smile, Susan watched as Mortimer struggled against his sugary prison, his once-menacing form reduced to nothing more than a sticky mess. As Susan watched Mortimer struggle against his sticky prison, she couldn't shake the feeling that something was amiss. Just as she turned to leave, a bone-chilling cackle echoed through the bakery. Mortimer's currant eyes glowed with a malevolent fire as he broke free from the molasses, his twisted form looming over Susan and Rusco.

With a sickening crunch, Mortimer's clawed hand closed around Susan's wrist, his sugary grip sending shivers down her spine. With a sick-twisted grin, he whispered, "You may have trapped me for now, young one, but I'll always find a way back. And when I do, your screams will be the sweetest melody."

With a final laugh that echoed through the empty bakery, Mortimer vanished into the shadows, leaving Emily and Rufus trembling in fear. As the first rays of dawn broke through the darkness, Susan knew that Mortimer's reign of terror was far from over and that the nightmare had only just begun.

From that cursed day forth, the legend of Mortimer the gingerbread man served as a haunting reminder that even the tastiest treats can conceal the most bitter intentions. And though the scars of his reign of terror may never fully heal as the people of Sugarvill still fear his return, they will never forget the horror of Susan's encounter as she narrated it to them and the chilling sacrifice of those who fell victim to the malevolent morsel's twisted desires.

The bakery was shut down, and all it had was confiscated, but will Mortimer return again? Or will something more sinister and evil arise from the shadows to hunt the town of Sugarvill? Well, we will never know until the next dark night.
