Midnight Souls: A Love That Wasn’t Meant to Be
Midnight Souls: A Love That Wasn’t Meant to Be

Under the flickering moonlight, two hearts found each other - but their souls told a different story.
In the quiet and foggy town of Elmsbridge, midnight is like a long dream, and an extraordinary story that transcends the laws of time, memory and even the soul unfolds.
Knock at the Door at Midnight
The story takes place on a foggy night, and Arianna, an artist who is looking for inspiration in the moonlight, hears a knock on the door. There stood a man with silver eyes and an old pocket watch, the dial ticking like a slow heartbeat. His name is Lucien, and the tone of his voice sounds as if he has known her for a long time.
"You don't know me, but I've been looking for you... for a long time."
From the moment their eyes met, something touched them - an undeniable attraction. Although the two are not sure of their fate, talking is like meeting again.
A Connection Beyond Logic
Lucien knows so much about Arianna - her favorite star sign, the melodies she often hums, even details of childhood scars she has never revealed. He claims they are soul mates - lovers in a past life, but separated too soon. Now, across time and reality, he has found her again.
Arianna is drawn to this mystery and cannot resist his presence. But every night she has strange dreams - dreams of flames, dark shadows, and a warning voice:
"He is not who you think he is. The soul that seeks you is not the soul you seek."
When Dreams Turn into Warnings
The dreams grew darker. In the images, Lucien's face flashed into another's, and she was haunted by the feeling that she was someone else's echo. But her waking moments with him were tender, filled with emotions too real to deny.
But Lucien had a secret. He tried to bury it with emotion - but eventually it crawled to the surface.
The Mirror of Truth
One stormy midnight, Arianna follows Lucien into the forest, where he enters an old, candlelit church. At its center stands a broken mirror—otherworldly and alive with life.
Lucien admits it. Arianna is no longer the woman he once loved, Elira. When Elira died, he made a forbidden pact with the Fate Weaver to find her soul. But the soul is not fully returned—half of it is reborn in another unequal fragment, Arianna.
“You should never have had this burden,” he whispers.
“And yet… I have fallen in love with you as you are now.”
The Price of a Broken Bond
As the truth comes to light, Arianna begins to deteriorate. Her soul - never meant to hold another - has disintegrated. The love between them is real, but also toxic. Being together will destroy them.
In the end, there is only one choice left.
Under the blood moon, Arianna steps into the mirror light and lets go of the piece that doesn't belong here. It is the final proof of her love.
"Maybe we are just a beautiful mistake," she says before disappearing into the light.
What Remains
Lucien never encountered her again. That very night, the mirror broke into pieces. Yet, even now, on certain clear nights in Elmsbridge, if you listen intently beneath the stars, you may catch the faint hum of a lost melody—carried on the breeze, as though in search of a canvas, a heartbeat, a soul. Elsewhere, far from Elmsbridge, a girl named Arianna never knew picks up a paintbrush for the first time, her hands gliding with an uncanny sense of familiarity.
