Mexico Barbaro: The First Horror Movie I Couldn’t Finish
This movie was...absolutely diabolical.

I have seen countless horror films that have shattered my very soul. There were whole days I was so scared to even step in the dark areas of my home, I couldn’t navigate any part of my safe refuge if the lights weren’t on.
The disgusting gory horror movies sometimes left a bad taste in my mouth, but I was able to get through the day without getting grossed out. Then I met my match, when I was introduced to Mexico Barbaro, an anthology film containing eight stories.
I have seen so many films with short stories; I was already familiar with the formula of how these films work. The film contains a huge variety of stories, filled with gore, hilarity, good or bad storytelling, and interesting characters. Once I started watching Mexico Barbaro, I was shown something I had seen so many times, a gory story with killers displaying their body count.
I thought the gore was done pretty well, the killers were pretty sadistic, it was a straight to the point story with the vile actions of monsters posing their ‘trophies’ for all to see. Then I went to the second. The third. The fourth. Then I just gave up.

I didn’t give up because the movie was boring, I gave up due to the very heavy content depicted through the next three stories. Don’t get me wrong, the stories were so entertaining, but the imagery of the horror started to mess with my head.
This film doesn’t care that their viewers are suffering, it shows the reality of what horror should be; where the characters don’t get a happy ending, dying in fear from the most disgusting creatures ever put to screen. The creatures and their actions against the main cast is what took me out from the film.
I love horror, I love that some films would dare to challenge their viewers, but this one was way too much for me. I will not go into explicit detail about what happens, hell, I don’t think I will be able to without gagging from the visuals I now have trapped in my head for the rest of my life.
I’ll just give out small hints I guess:
Second story: Two thieves run into a hot woman who is a total monster that bleeds everywhere on her body. I was left so disgusted after one scene; never seen that in a horror movie. Let’s just say that I’m surprised vampires haven’t thought of getting their blood supply from one particular element. (I’ll leave it at that. I’m not getting into detail of what I mean by that. Trust me, it’s sick).
Third Story: A girl finds a dead body; she goes back home to find a creepy ass ghost waiting for her. He threatens to do the most sickening shit, something I regret ever hearing from the mouth of a ghost. What happens next is uhh…similar to the events of the second story, I suppose.
Fourth Story: A young couple wants to spend time together, they run into a troll that likes to steal stuff. He steals something from the couple’s cabin. This story completely messed me up, I shut off the TV for the first time during a horror movie.
I looked away from the screen more times than I can count. I’ll leave the rest to your imagination. I doubt you will guess what happens, but I’m warning you, if you are suddenly interested in watching this movie, please skip this story. Please. I’m trying to save your eyes from experiencing what it’s like to get stabbed. In both of them.
I didn’t even bother finishing the rest of the stories. I’m sure they would have been just as crazy as the rest, but each story kept getting worse and worse. After watching the troll one, I just couldn’t do it. Even if someone dared me to watch this movie for a million dollars; I would accept defeat. This is the first horror movie I would not recommend.
Don’t watch it.
Please.
