Mark was a young man who loved to spend his time at the beach. He enjoyed swimming, sunbathing, and playing in the sand. One day, he decided to go to a beach that he had never been to before.

It was a small, secluded beach, hidden away from the crowds. Mark was the only person there. He parked his car and walked down to the shore.

The sand was soft and white, and the water was clear and blue. Mark took off his shoes and socks and waded into the water. It was cool and refreshing.

Mark swam for a while, then he lay down on the sand to dry off. He looked up at the sky and saw that the clouds were starting to gather. He decided that it was time to head home.

Mark put on his shoes and socks and started to walk back to his car. But as he was walking, he saw something out of the corner of his eye.

It was a figure standing in the distance. The figure was tall and thin, and it was wearing a long, black coat. Mark couldn't see the figure's face, but he could feel a chill run down his spine.

Mark stopped walking and stared at the figure. The figure didn't move. It just stood there, watching him.

Mark started to feel scared. He turned and ran back to the water. He jumped into the water and swam as fast as he could.

Mark swam until he reached the shore. He climbed out of the water and ran to his car. He got in the car and locked the doors.

Mark looked back in the mirror and saw the figure standing on the beach. It was closer now. Mark could see its face. It was pale and gaunt, with sunken eyes and a cruel smile.

Mark started his car and drove away. He didn't look back.

Mark never went back to that beach again. But he never forgot the figure he saw on the shore.

**Years later**

Mark was now an old man. He had retired and was living in a small house near the beach. He often went for walks on the beach, but he always avoided the secluded beach where he had seen the figure many years ago.

One day, Mark was walking on the beach when he saw something out of the corner of his eye. It was a figure standing in the distance.

Mark's heart started to race. He knew that it was the same figure he had seen many years ago.

The figure started to walk towards Mark. Mark turned and ran back to his house. He ran as fast as he could, but the figure was faster.

Mark reached his house and unlocked the door. He ran inside and slammed the door shut. He locked the door and leaned against it, breathing heavily.

Mark heard the figure banging on the door. He could hear its voice, calling his name.

"Mark," the figure said. "Mark, come out. I need to talk to you."

Mark didn't answer. He just leaned against the door, listening to the figure banging on it.

After a while, the figure stopped banging on the door. Mark waited a few minutes, then he slowly opened the door.

The figure was gone.

Mark looked up and down the street, but he couldn't see the figure anywhere.

Mark went back inside his house and locked the door. He sat down in a chair and tried to calm himself down.

Mark didn't know what to do. He didn't know why the figure had come back. He didn't know what it wanted.

Mark decided to go to bed. He was tired and he needed to sleep.

Mark went to bed and lay down in bed. He closed his eyes and tried to sleep.

But Mark couldn't sleep. He kept thinking about the figure. He kept hearing the figure's voice, calling his name.

Mark got out of bed and went to the window. He looked out the window at the beach.

The figure was standing on the beach. It was waving at Mark.

Mark was terrified. He turned and ran back to bed. He pulled the covers over his head and hid.

Mark lay in bed, shaking with fear. He could hear the figure walking around outside his house. He could hear the figure's voice, calling his name.

Mark spent the rest of the night hiding under the covers. He didn't dare come out.

In the morning, Mark got out of bed and looked out the window. The figure was gone.

Mark packed his belongings and left his house. He never went back.

Mark never saw the figure again, but he never forgot it. He knew that it was still out there, somewhere, waiting for him.
