Love's Last Stand

Unraveling the Darkness of a Broken Heart

By Sugey Berdugo (sugebr)Published 3 years ago 3 min read

She always thought that they were meant to be together forever. They had the kind of love that made people envious. But as time passed, things began to change. He became more distant, less affectionate. She tried to talk to him about it, but he always had an excuse. She knew something was wrong, but she didn't want to face it.

One night, they had a huge argument. She accused him of not loving her anymore, and he told her that he was tired of her constantly accusing him. They both said things they didn't mean, and the argument ended with her storming out of the house.

She spent the next few days trying to call him, but he never answered. She went to his house, but he wasn't there. She was worried, but she tried to convince herself that he needed space and would come back soon.

One night, she woke up to a strange sound in her room. She sat up in bed and saw him standing at the foot of her bed. He looked different, like he wasn't quite himself. She asked him what he was doing there, but he didn't answer. He just stared at her with dark, empty eyes.

Suddenly, he lunged at her. She tried to fight him off, but he was too strong. He pinned her down and whispered in her ear, "I loved you once, but not anymore." Then he disappeared.

She never saw him again after that night. She was too scared to leave her house, too scared to trust anyone again. She learned the hard way that sometimes love can turn into something dark and twisted, and that it's better to let go than to hold on to something that's already dead.

At first, everything seemed normal. Sarah had broken up with her boyfriend, but they still saw each other occasionally. After all, they had shared so many moments together and had known each other for years. But when she started receiving strange calls in the middle of the night, she began to worry.

The calls were silent, and when Sarah tried to answer, the other end hung up without saying anything. At first, she thought it was a prank from her friends, but after a while, she began to suspect that something more sinister was going on.

One night, when she was alone at home, the doorbell rang. Sarah approached, asking who was there, but received no answer. Carefully, she opened the door, and to her surprise, found a gift box wrapped in bright pink wrapping paper, with a note that read "I'm sorry, please open it".

Unsure but curious, Sarah opened the box. Inside was a photo of her and her ex-boyfriend, torn in half. Her blood ran cold when she saw the attached note that read, "I can't bear to lose you. Come back to me, or I'll haunt you until you do."

Sarah realized with horror that her ex-boyfriend was obsessed with her, and was unwilling to accept that their relationship had ended. She started receiving increasingly threatening messages, and one day, when she was coming home from work, she was attacked by someone she knew all too well.

After a desperate struggle, Sarah managed to escape and seek help. But she knew that her life would never be the same. She now lived with the constant fear that her ex-boyfriend could show up at any moment, and she knew that she would have to face her own fears if she wanted to find a way to break free from his dark and dangerous grip.

Sarah never fully recovered from the trauma of her ex-boyfriend's obsession. She moved away, changed her phone number, and even changed her name, but the fear lingered on. Every time she heard a strange noise or received an unknown call, her heart skipped a beat.

Years passed, and Sarah thought she had finally put the past behind her. But one night, as she was getting ready for bed, she noticed a flickering light outside her window. She approached slowly, trying to stay calm, but what she saw made her blood run cold.

There, standing in the shadows, was her ex-boyfriend, his eyes fixed on her. "I told you I'd haunt you until you came back to me," he whispered. "And now, I'm afraid I have to keep my promise."

With a scream, Sarah reached for the phone, but it was too late. The last thing she heard was the sound of breaking glass, and then, nothing. Her story had come to a tragic and terrifying end, a reminder of the dangers of love gone wrong.
