"Lights out": the dying originality
The full-length film by David Sandberg "lights out," shot based on the creepy and original short film Lights out, even before the premiere, divided film lovers into two camps. Some believed that the idea of appearing exclusively in the darkness of evil, with proper study of the script and cast, will become a ray of light in the gloomy darkness, where the horror genre now dominates.

The new trailer for the horror "lights out."
The network has a trailer for a new film by Swedish director David F. Sandberg - "lights out." The film, based on the original short film director and Eric Heisserer, was the screenwriter of the full-length picture.
The film tells the story of a girl named Rebecca (Teresa Palmer), who is trying to cope with her childhood fears and psychological injuries, embodied in the form of a creature that appears only when the light goes out and pursues her. The film also starred Billy Burke, Emily Elin Lind, Maria Bello, Gabriel Bateman, and others.
A promising picture may become one of the best horror films in recent years, especially since one of the producers of the tape was the creator of Saws and Spells, James Van.
It will be possible to evaluate the film and compare it with Wang's latest work, "Spell 2," very soon, on July 21, and the lights will go out on Russian screens.
Now, in the time of the collective power of the Internet, the best time is for both filmmakers and moviegoers. The former has the opportunity to broadcast their work to a vast audience via the Internet and gain popularity more and faster than those who have been working on blockbusters for five years. Mainly if viral work attracts the attention of people like Peter Jackson and Guillermo Del Toro: one of the first to spot creativity in directing "short dreams," they gave full-length life to "District No. 9" and "Mom." The future career of Neil Blomkamp is now in doubt, but this is not important: the main thing is that this source of truly talented solutions has again found its application in the genre that now needs most of all new blood - horror.
"lights out" was shot based on the short film of the same name, which managed to conquer millions of horror story lovers thanks to the seemingly incredibly simple and at the same time clever gimmick: you can't see evil in the light, but if it goes out, a dark one wanders unnaturally from you figure. A thing that works great in a short film - you need to catch the horror quickly and efficiently in it, and there is no time for exposure or forcing suspense. In full meter, there was a considerable risk of falling into the blind exploitation of the reception, which is typical of a recent horror. But the risky, almost original project in the hands of producer James Wang, whose name has long been carved with a rusty coffin nail on the board of honor of the masters of horror, stretching a five-minute story for an hour and a half, As in the brilliant "Spells," in the center of the story "lights out" is a family that is being terrorized by an evil entity. In this family, a unique and lively dynamic of relationships is built, which not only actively undergoes changes during the events of the film but also has a pronounced background and a possible future, provided that everyone remains alive. Will the heroes be saved? - the frightened heart of the viewer beats over this question. The leading actors, Theresa Palmer, and Maria Bello, are giving their all; I play crazy mother and daughter. They compete in caring for their son in the performance of the magnificent Gabriel Bateman, one of the most talented young actors in the industry. Special mention should make of Alexander Dipersia, who managed to turn the screen -played at first glance role of "the daughter's boyfriend, who will certainly and impartially kill" into something unique and memorable. The people performed by these actors are not so stupid as to make typical mistakes of victims in horror films, which extremely positively affects the viewer's connection with their fates, lives, and problems.
If the story and the characters of the film are its engines, then the directing of David Sandberg demonstrates that the notorious light gimmick can (and could) turn into thermonuclear fuel. With an increase in timing, the number of entertaining, and sometimes even crazy, creative solutions using light as for overcoming the monster, and to create a terrible atmosphere is the most complex substance in the (dying) context of originality. And if in it, in this contact, a film about a monster that can harm you only in the dark has appeared now, and this film made so realistic that after watching you decide to leave the light in the kitchen overnight, then this tape can be safely attributed to the best of the best in its genre.
