Last Moments When Life Flashes

Lessons Learned. Accepted.

By Glory AnnaPublished about a year ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

There was only one rule: Don’t open the door…

Self-sacrifice is an interesting thing when you're staring down the barrel of what stands between you and mortality.

There’s a reason morality and mortality are so close together. Can be transposed and confused. Both drive us to the existential crisis of what our end will mean…

Will...

How damning the human condition.

My English would have you believe that I have already made my decision.

It seemed so easy to proclaim when others were here to witness this self's ultimatum.

One for a dozen… fools math.

I am going to die.

Will it be frantic?

A deep sleep I can’t resist?

Peaceful or damning?

I think of my parents, though I wasn't a particularly happy child.

Rebellious.

Now I wish I could have enjoyed the freedom…

Youth…

I’m still young…

It’s over.

What could have been?

Sobering.

I would never have thought of what could be…

Until it was too late…

Death.

How finite an awakener.

The air’s getting thinner.

Pressure release…

Maybe that is why I feel so free.

Let go.

Body, mind, soul.

Heavy.

I feel lighter than air.

What a cruel twist of faith to be left here.

Unable to convey all that I have learned…

Yearning.

Fear.

It’s ending…

Is heaven beginning?

Afterlife…

But what is there?

What’s meant to be?

When all that's left is a body.

No wonder we’re insecure and waste our time comparing the parts that decay…

Still, I wish I could stay.

Please, do better, think better, learn better,

From me…

Don’t begin at your ending.

Despair…

Moment of death…

Inspiring.

Macabre… and enchanting.

The horror…

Enticing.

What is left…

Now detached…

Neverending…

The end…

So be it.

I am resigned to the fact...

It will be what they make of it.
