It's late at night as I'm driving through the woods listening to my GPS when it says to take a back road, I do as it says, turning to the backroad as I drive, I see deer race past me the leave crunching audibly I swerve trying not to hit them then in a barely noticeable flash of light I turn to see movement following

'Probably just some kid with a flashlight ' I think I carry on. My phone buzzes and takes my attention away from it its Andrew texting me that he finally got a date to the fall dance I text a thumbs-up emoji then my headlights suddenly switch off as I try to turn them back on they seem stuck 'ok' i think 'it's only a few more miles to my place ill make it' i slow down and try to peer through the darkness I see a lamplight bright enough to see in front of me I speed up to 40 mph when something runs in front of my car and the car flips over and I black out for several moments when I come to the lamplight shuts off leaving me in the murky darkness. I search for my flashlight and my pistol and get out of the wrecked car shining the flashlight everywhere and searching for what I had hit. I was about to start walking to my house when I saw a thing hunched over on the ground. Its flesh was a light brown with flat teeth around its mouth, its hands that had three fingers were covered in blood, and its eyes were solid white with cataracts it stared at me as I lifted the pistol, and with a shaking hand I pulled the trigger bullet after bullet all 14 rounds hitting it the creature didn't seem fazed its stomach opened and a giant tentacle shot out at me slapping the gun from my hand I shrieked and ran as fast as my converse would take me finally I saw my house up ahead and ran faster once inside I locked the doors and windows I opened my gun safe and grabbed the shotgun in it and sat waiting for daylight. eventually, my eyelids grew heavy and sleep came shortly after when I realized I was asleep my eyelids flew open and I grabbed the shotgun from where it had fallen when the monster suddenly was in front of me just staring until its stomach opened and the tentacle grabbed me and drew me in slowly I was soon consumed in the darkness.

It was a dreary night in October as I looked at all the decorations and the kids running around in masks from various horror movies. I was listening to my favorite band's new album in my car when I stopped at the store I noticed a cat sitting a few feet in front of me Its silky black fur glinted in the artificial light, and its green eyes glared at me got up and stalked off and as I watched it leave I did a double take as I saw its shadow as it lengthened and took form into a 12-foot long humanoid creature

and with eyes eyes that sent an ice-pick chill down my back it had cat ears. I started to back away as it rose from the ground and followed me as it left the cat the cat froze and fell dead. I screamed and got back in my car slamming the door closed and stomping on the gas peddle The car jerked forward and I glanced in the rearview mirror watching the thing melt back in the shadows I exhaled a breath I didint know I was holding one I got out of the car I ran to the steps and went inside turning on all the lights to try to keep the shadows away all night I dreamt of its inky black hands
