Lows set in is chair, watching the fire burn, bright orange with shades of red and yellow. Lows spent most of the day chopping wood. He thought to himself, the night comes early the part of the year. With the early night comes the cold winter front. I must be prepared, Lows said to himself. Lows was in his late forties, but had the energy of a young athlete in his twenties. You had to have a strong will to live this far, this high away from humanity. But this night, something was different. His head felt foggy, with slight vibrations of a bass dum. A piercing ringing in his ears, blurriness in his eyes, legs felt like sharp knifes, cutting through his flesh. As he rolled up his plants leg to look. All he saw was, a thick coat of white hair. Lows leaned back in his seat. His stomuch pins all in them. Did I for get to eat? Lows could not remember. With the pain coming from his legs. Getting up was out of the question? Lows had always loved nature, and are the unknowns that come with it.

FireSun

As a young boy, Lows would find himself often lost in the tall trees, trying to uncover all the mystery of the forest, that had yet to be found. Lows family would always send him to different camps and different states. His family loved his will and determination to uncover it all, they wanted to support him, he was thirteen back then. One night as Lows camping mates was asleep, he would stare at the night sky, trying to cout all the stars. He would try to see, how high of a number he could get to, before he would fall asleep. Lows yawned, his eyes filled up with tears, he wipe them and closed his eyes. Crack! Thumped! A large tree branch fell to the ground. Lows set up, the noise had woke him. He look to his left everyone else, still asleep. Amatures, he thought to himself. To be out here, you need to have a fine tuned ear. He grabbed his flash light, check for his pocket knife, that he had been hiding from is parents, for a few years now. He had found that knife on one of his camping trips. He had heard once, a good mountain man always keeps a handing blade with him. Lows stood up, unlatched his blade. He walk about 20 feet in each way. But nothing. But he had that feeling, that something is watching. As he walked back to his camp. He realized that the night was still, no wind. Which could not be right, he was hearing the trees creak, rubbing together. He shined his light as high as is light could reach. First over his head, there the noise again, to his left, to the right. Lows started to shake. The noise now, was right behind him. Lows dropped down, through his blade at the area he had last heard the noise. A loud whoooooo echo the forest, he shined his light, as he seen a shadow climb high into the trees and vanished. It was no way Lows was going to sleep after a night like that. Lows leaned up against a tree a sat, thinking about the noise he a heard Whoooooo. An owl? He thought, can owls grow to the size? Too many questions. Right then the sun shined over the mountain top. Lows had never seen the sunrise before. He was amazed by the colors, bright yellow, with shades of red and orange, like the sky was on fire.

Home

Lows looked out his window, it was time for him to do his last check before bed. Make sure no animals had gotten into his shed. Routine, he has done this for the 9,855 days straight, and every night the same result. Well just not the result Lows wanted. Lows grabbed his flash light, rifle, and of course his trusting blade. His blade was a lot bigger now, something you might see, one of those scary mask killers might have, in the movies. The night was still. Lows walked to his shed, check the lock and the surrounding area, nothing he said. He started to walk back to the front of his cabin. Creak! The sound of the tall trees rubbing together. Lows immediately pulled his gun and fired two shots. Bang! Bang! The gun shots echo through the forest. The night was silent again. He started to walk in the direction where he heard the noise. Out of nowhere a big gust of cold air sent Lows to the ground. Lows started to slowly crawling towards the light. Home, Lows said to himself, I have to get back home. The light was getting brighter. As he pulled himself up right. He felt something hard to his left, cold metal object. He reached for it, it was his pocket knife. He smile, I knew I would find you again. Lows stared at the fire. Bright yellow with red and orange. Lows closed his eyes, he was finally home.
