He was so close. I could feel his breath on my face. I felt my face getting hot as he just stood there staring at me with his blue eyes. He smelled good too... wait...
"Johnathan," I whispered. "You're invading my personal bubble."
He smirked that annoying smirk again and chuckled. What was running through his mind? Why did he suddenly get close to me?
"Johnathan..." I began, but he placed his right hand on my cheek and glided down to my chin with his index finger.
"Don't talk," he whispered as he looked from my eyes to my lips.
God no. Please don't... don't kiss me. It'll ruin everything! I just stared at him, my heart beating fast. When was he going to kiss me?
As he leaned in closer my heart beat faster. It was beating so loud I feared he could hear it. My face was hot from his touch. Closer and closer he came. My body tensed up, my eyes grew wide.
"Johnathan!" I squeaked and jumped back. I just couldn't.
"What?!" he replied in a funny mocking way.
"Were you trying to kiss me?" I asked him to pick up my sack from the couch.
He smirked again and shook his head, leaning against the armrest of the couch. "Indeed not. If I was you would know and I would've done it by now."
I squinted at him and threw my bag over my shoulder. This boy would be the death of me. He thinks he can just play me like that? Act like he's going to kiss me and don't... not that I wanted him to.
He suddenly burst into laughter. "You actually thought I was going to kiss you? Or perhaps you wanted to kiss me?"
He queried his eyebrows and stared at me long enough to make me squirm.
"John, are you teasing this young lady?" I hear a man's voice coming from where the stairs are.
I quickly turned around and saw a man in his mid-thirties. He had a beard and nice dark shoulder length hair. He also had Johnathan's blue eyes.
"Pardon me, my dear," he said with a slight bow. "I'm John's uncle, Caven."
I nodded. "Nice to meet you..."
He smiled. "So now... is he teasing you?"
"It's fine... I was just about to leave," I said, rearranging my sack. "It was nice meeting you, Mr. Caven... Johnathan..."
I quickly walked into the hall and let myself out and trotted to the car. As soon as I got my door open, I looked to the big bay window that I noticed in the parlor. Johnathan was standing there waving. I waved back, quickly got in the car, and drove off.
That was probably the most awkward experience of my life! What just happened? Like seriously? First, I was there giving him his homework, next thing I know he's telling me he shouldn't hang out with me and my friends! When I protest, he gets all up in my face. Pulling up to a red light I thought... did I just protest? Did I just complain about him wanting to stay clear of me? And did I actually want him to kiss me? What is happening?!
I shook my head and drove on to my house. Everything happened so quickly. It was late and I was tired... that's got to be it. All that happened because I'm tired. Just go home and get some sleep... I'll be fine.

Johnathan’s POV
I watched as Natalie pulled out of the driveway. I enjoy making her feel uncomfortable at times... but the truth is, I was glad she jumped back. I could still feel the urge of the thirst. I was going to do the one thing I didn't want to do... drink her blood. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I did. And my uncle coming in when he did was good timing.
"It's dangerous being around her, John," my uncle scolded, standing in front of the huge mantel with a wine glass in his hand.
I lowered my gaze to the floor. He was right. My urges were trying to take over.
"You're craving her," he continued.
"How do I take this craving, Uncle?" I asked, sitting on the couch arm rest.
He twirled the glass around in his hand, causing the red liquid to move around. "Lay low for a while. Get back to drinking animal blood. The vampire in you is trying to take over. Because you haven't had human blood yet when you were turned that fateful night."
I lowered my gaze again. He was right. I couldn't risk being around her, or anyone, with what was happening to me. But I wanted to see her. I wanted to be around her all the time. I didn't want to leave her side. Something about her that was so... addicting.
"Johnathan, stay away for a couple of weeks at least. I'll be logging your progress," Uncle added and headed out of the parlor.
I stood and went to the bay window and stared into the woods towards the highway. The sun had already set, and the moon cast eerie shadows across the front lawn. I sighed. I can't stay away from her... I just can't. I'm not strong enough.

Natalie's POV
I just lay there in my bed thinking about the day’s events. Everything that happened was so weird. Also noticing something different about him. His eyes were not the natural blue. They were a reddish color or something. I put my hands behind my head and just stared at the ceiling.
What was he hiding? What was his game? Those questions just kept running around in my head. They wouldn't leave. I found myself thinking about him every second of the day. As if I was addicted to him in some way. But I disliked him... right? Perhaps not? I sighed and lay on my side. This was all just so frustrating!
I groaned and sat up in bed. My eyes grew wide and I lost my breath and sat there frozen, staring straight ahead in the corner of my room. My window drapes flapping in the wind. I could've sworn I closed that window. Eyes were staring back at me.
I opened my mouth to try to speak. But whatever it was came at me so I screamed and covered myself up with my blanket.
Someone barged in my room.
"What's wrong?!" The voice of my mom rang through the quiet room.
I peeked from under the blanket and looked around. Seeing only her standing there I jumped out of bed and clung to her.
"Someone, something, was in here! It came at me!" I cried, hugging her close.
She wrapped her arms around me and stroked my hair. "Shh, it was probably just a bad dream, dear."
I dug my face in her shoulder. The face of whatever it was flashing across my mind. What was that? What did it want?
"Get to sleep dear, we have a long day ahead of us tomorrow. That event isn't going to do itself," mom cooed and led me to bed.
I felt like a kid again when she tucked me in, kissed my forehead, and slowly closed the door, leaving it cracked a bit.
I soon dozed off. But only to dream about whatever that was.
